Controversy have continued to trail  the report from officials of the Ijaw for 2023 Governorship team reducing the number of aspirants contesting the Governorship office from the Ijaw extraction in Delta State  to two except Dr. Braduce Amakazi Angozi.

In the communique signed by Edmund Doyah Tiemo, Secretary, Interface Committee, copies of which were sent to newsmen in Warri yesterday, including The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide,  it gave His Excellency, Barr (Dcn) Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Deputy Governor of Delta State and Sen. James Manager, Senator Representing Delta South Senatorial District the go ahead to contest the Governorship election while advising Dr. Braduce Amakazi Angozi not to contest but to support one aspirant among the above mentioned two.

Since the report hited the airwave, there have been counter and cross counter motions among prominent Ijaw sons and daughters with differing views.

In view of the controversy, The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide tried to reach out to Prof. Benjamin Ogele Okaba, President Ijaw national congress, he could not respond to the several calls put across to his mobile phone nor return them as at the time of filing this report in order to clear the air on the true position of things since he had earlier maintained that decisions regarding such development will be announced and made by the INC President.I am

This reporter further reached out to Dr. Comr. Doubra Collins Okotete, Chairman Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone, he declined comment on the matter, stressing that he wouldn’t want to be quoted as he does not have the mandate to comment on the matter except the INC President.

Meanwhile, when we reached out to Dr. Braduce Amakazi Angozi via a phone conversation, he rejected the said report, describing the entire arrangement as a kangaroo and gang up against him.

Angozi continued that while he will not bother himself on the parameters used to arrive at such conclusion that he should not contest, he particularly charged his massive supporters and delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State to remain calm as his governorship ambition is intact, adding that there is no going back.

Dr. Braduce hinted The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide that when he investigated the matter on how they came up with such conclusion, he learnt that he was blackmailed that he was close to His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State hence the Governor was using him to devide Ijaw votes.

He particularly cautioned that people should not use his relationship with the Governor to blackmail him, adding that the committee cannot assume the authorities of a law court to themselves or a panel set up by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the report as funny and laughable.

He continued that while he is disappointed at the said report and those behind it, Dr. Braduce asserted that it is only the Lord Almighty that gives power hence no one can dare claim to be God over someone’s life.

The former Delta State Commissioner for Agriculture had maintained that no one asked him to contest the Governorship election hence his fate can only be determined by the PDP delegates and the Lord Almighty.

“I am one of the first to even advocate for an Ijaw Governor come 2023, using the media, you can Google it, the records are there and this is not the first time I am contesting the Governorship position. My ambition to become the next Governor of Delta State is  sacrosanct and very much alive as I will not be deterred by my detractors”. Braduce stated.

The communique from the committee reads below:

H.E. Otuaro, Sen. Manager in. And Dr. Braduce out—Ijaws of Delta State.

……The Ijaws in delta state has finally given the duo of H.E. Kingsley Otuaro and Sen. J. E. Manager the go ahead to contest the election in the interim.

…..advises Hon (Dr) Braduce Amakazi Angozi to suspend his ambition and throw his support on either of the two aspirants to increase the Ijaw chances.
