National President of Delta Ijaw Youth Movement For Political Advancement, DIYMPA, Amb. John Dekawei has lambasted the Delta State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Prince Emman Ambgaduba over his recent statement on the ban of youth activities within the premises of Oil Companies operating in Delta State.

Amb. Dekawei, a leading voice in the struggle for good governance made this known via a press statement circulated to newsmen, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper after arising from a press briefing in Abuja today.

The national president of DIYMFPA particularly described the statement as dictatorial, undemocratic and a plot to silence youths from benefiting from companies they are hosting.

Amb. John noted that the Delta State commissioner for oil and gas should have focussed more on how oil companies will be taking care of their host communities and their youths and not to be making statements that are capable of hiting up the polity.

Speaking further, Dekawei while frowning at the comment noted that the commissioner do not have the right to give such unrealistic directive.

While expressing sadness over the comment, the Niger Delta philanthropist noted that commissioner Amgbaduba has created a very negative history for himself by becoming the first commissioner of the Delta State ministry of Oil and Gas to have made such tyrannical statement

He noted that a commissioner lacks the right to place such ban on youth activities within the promises of Oil companies, he maintained that youth activities within the promises of Oil companies are usually occasioned by iron fisted oppression from the said companies.

Meanwhile, the Delta state Government through the commissioner for Oil and Gas, Prince Emman Ambgaduba yesterday issued a warning on youth activities; Protests, meetings or negotiations by youth associations within the premises of oil prospecting companies working in Delta state.

The directive was given on the 13th of January, 2020 in Asaba by the Honourable commissioner for Oil and Gas, Prince Emman Amgbaduba following the death of two security personnel attached to Midwestern Oil and Gas Company at Umusadege community in Ndokwa West Local Government Area over a disagreement between the host community and the oil company.

In his words: “No youth must approach any oil company operating in Delta state over any form of issue. Should anyone attempt to takeover the premises of any company, security operatives should take necessary actions by treating such person(s) as criminals. Protests should be directed to the office of the Honourable Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Delta state, 35, Jesus Saves Road, Off summit Road, Asaba”. Amgbaduba stated.

He further directed security operatives to carryout a thorough investigation on the causes of the breakdown of law and order which led to the loss of lives and properties in Umusadege community over the weekend. That the ministry will also set up a committee to investigate the incident and take necessary actions. Government regrets the loss of lives and properties he stated.

Nevertheless, when contacted Amgbaduba for more clarification on the controversial statement credited to him by our reporter, he could not respond to several calls put across to his mobile phone nor returned the calls.

However, instead when the Personal Assistant, PA to the honourable commissioner was reached on the matter, Comr. Emmanuel Gesikekeme Akpule noted that the statement issued by his boss was misconstrued, stressing that there is already a rejoinder to that effect.

Meanwhile, there are indications already that several youth groups within Delta and the Niger Delta region are coming out to condemn the statement credited to the honourable commissioner.
