Delta: Mulade Constitute Committee To Begin Ijaw/Itsekiri Peace Cup November 16th

As a means of promoting peaceful coexistence and building bridges of unity among Ijaws and Itsekiris in Delta State, the National coordinator, Center for Peace and Environmental Justice, Chief (Comrade) Sheriff Mulade has inaugurated a local organizing committee (LOC) for the third edition of Ijaw/Itsekiri Peace and Unity Football Tournament. 

Members of the committee were inaugurated Tuesday, Sept 20th, 2022, at the Africa for Peace office complex off Osubi Okpe Local government area of Delta State. 

The tournament is billed to kickoff as from 16th November, 2022 to mark the international day of tolerance, and close on the 3rd December, 2022 with venues at Ugborodo and Benikrukru, both in Warri South-West.


During the inauguration, Sheriff Mulade said the tournament is in line with one of the principles of the Social Development Goals (SDGs) International Day for Tolerance, taking place on 16th November every year to encourage respect, dialogue and cooperation among different cultures, civilizations and people.


“This tournament was initiated to promote peaceful coexistence and build bridges of unity among the diverse ethnic nationalities, as well as discover football talents at the grassroot level in Warri area and other parts of Delta State”.


The Various positions of responsibility and members inaugurated include: Chairman, Kenneth Nwobocha; Secretary, Commodore Kingdom Itoko (rtd); P.R.O., Mr. Matthew Itsekiri; Director of Finance, Mr. Victor Tonlagha; Director of Welfare, Mrs. Omoboye Abosode; Director of Media, Azuka Chiemeka; Director of Mobilization, Amb. City Ojouworo; Director of Security, Hon Raymond Pirah; Asst. Director of Finance, Dr. Jeffery Wilikie


Others are Asst. Director of Security, Mr Philemon Ugedi; Director of Mobilization, Benikrukru, Mr. Bright Tortor; Director of Transport /Logistics, Hon. Aboyewa Ikpotor; Asst Director of Transport /  Logistics, Hon. Bethus Ayetan; Director of Mobilisation-Ugborodo, Mr. Wilson Ejeh, and Organising Secretary, Hon. Paul Kirifede
