Youths of Ofougbene and Forcados Communities in Iduwini Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State have distanced themselves by replying a group operating under the auspices of Oborotu Federated Youth Movement (OFYM) by calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to disregard claims by OFYM that surveillance contracts in OML 30 should be cancelled over failure to carry people along  in the area by Ocean Marine Solution Limited (OMSL).

This was contained in a letter addressed to President Muhammadu Buhari, signed by Comr. Ebikeme Angodideke, Youth President of Ofougbene Community and Comr. Matthew Obed, Youth President of Forcados Community in Burutu Local Government Area, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper yesterday.

The youth leaders particularly urged President Muhammadu Buhari, Delta State Government, other stakeholders and members of the general public to disregard publication made by the Oborotu Federated Youth Movement wherein Comr. Napoleon Kenerekedi posed as President.

The Ofougbene and Forcados youth presidents in their letter warned that Comr. Napoleon Kenerekedi do not have the mandate to speak on behalf of the various communities as the said OFYM does not exist.

The letter reads below:

General Muhammadu Buhari,

President,

Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Sir,

Re-Survellance: A Joint Publication By Youth Leaders From Ofougbene And Forcados Communities

Our attention has been drawn to a publication made by a self-acclaimed youth body, on an online newspaper dated 20th June, 2020, claiming to be an umbrella body of youths from Burutu, Ofougbene and Forcados known as “Oborotu  Federal Youth Movement “, in which one Comr. Napoleon Kenerekedi claims to be the president of such a purported youth body, and calling for cancellation of pipeline surveillance contract of OML 30.

Sir, as youth leaders of Ofougbene and Forcados in Iduwini Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, we hereby jointly call on you and the general public to disregard the publication made by Comr. Napoleon Kenerekedi and his cohort (s), as the purported youth body he claimed to be president does not exist. Our communities are autonomous, and each having its separate legitimate youth body (ies) that speaks for their selve (s) when the need arises. Though we acknowledged the fact that Comr. Napoleon Kenerekedi  is entitled to his own opinion on issues which is a fundamental human right but we are equally warning him to stop parading himself as our representative, as he is not mandated to speak on behalf of our various communities.

For the avoidance of doubt, youths from the host communities are not in any form of dispute with company or surveillance contractor (s) operating under OML 30, Transforcados pipeline. We therefore warn Comr. Napoleon Kenerekedi and his cohort (s) to desist from creating false impression that youths from host communities, where those companies operate, are not carried along. It is pertinent for the general public to know that, we the youth leaders and those we represent in our various communities are not complaining. We are enjoying the peaceful and cordial relationship that exist between our various communities and companies operating in our domains.

We therefore call on the Federal Government, particularly President Muhammadu Buhari; State Government and relevant security agencies to disregard any claim (s) made by such a self acclaimed youth body, which does not exist.

Comr. Ebikeme Angodideke,

Youth President,

Ofougbene Community.

Comr. Matthew Obed

Youth President,

Forcados Community.
