The Ijaw Youth Council structure of Diebiri Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State has called on His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Govermor of Delta State to have proper plans for the resettlement of its people.

This was made known to newsmen in Warri yesterday via a statement personally signed and circulated to The Liberator Newspaper by Comr. Esegha Morris, Chairman of the Clan.

The youth leader had also called on the Governor to recognise its people with a commissioner position when he eventually reconstitutes his state executive council.
Comr. Esegha particularly lamented over the state of underdevelopment that had engulfed Diebiri despite being an oil producing Kingdom, stressing that the Governor must do all within his powers to change the Diebiri story for good.

The statement reads in full below:

Official Statement by Comrade Esegha Morris Werinina, Chairman Ijaw Youth Council, Diebiri Clan on the 21st day of May, 2021

‘It is time to look into Diebiri’s Agenda’, IYC Chairman charges Gov Okowa.
The Ijaw Youth Council, Diebiri Clan has appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to look into Diebiri agenda as the way forward to:

i. A sustainable political solution needed for the people of Diebiri to reclaim its ancestral home.

ii. Our objective as Diebiri people go beyond reclaiming our ancestral home alone. There should be a clear policy commitment on how to tackle Diebiri’s socio-economic underdevelopment by this administration.

iii. Recall, in 2019 Diebiri Kingdom was shortchanged politically, so, Mr. Governor I implore you to reward Diebiri people: (1) With a commissioner for us to have a sense of belonging when reshuffling your cabinet.

iv. Finally, His Excellency, history will rightly judge how you treat the Diebiri people.
v. Thanks!

Signed: Comr Esegha Morris Werinina…. Chairman IYC-DIEBIRI CLAN STRUCTURE.
