An influential youth leader in Ayakoromo Ward 7, Ngbilebiri Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, Amb. Arerebo Yerinmene  has informed Ayakoromo politicians and the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) to allow electorates freelly exercise their franchise come March 6th 2021 Local Government elections in the state.

Amb. Arerebo made the call via a statement he signed and issued to newsmen in Warri yesterday, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers.

The statement reads in full below:

Dear Ayakoromo Ward 7 leaders and Electorates,

OUR PEOPLE MUST BE ALLOW TO EXERCISE THEIR FRANCHISE_____

Please it is my humble appeal to you all to do the needful to save our democracy at the ward and local level to show that we are all one despite politics.

We shouldn’t allow POLITICS to continue dividing us, there was once a united Ayakoromo before politics but apparently politics had done more harm to us than good therefore to reform our unity again interested parties should be allowed to test their popularites on transparent democratic process.

Materials should be distributed as expected, electorates should be allowed to exercise their franchise and votes must be counted transparently.
In the last local government election, I was among others that expressed displeasure following the fact that there was no election at  Ayakoromo Ward 7 yet the electoral process was declared free and fair in the news.

Therefore, I want to strongly believe that this forthcoming election, history will not repeat itself. I repeat electoral materials must be distributed for all electorates to exercise their franchise to avoid further public castigations.

It is high time we set the records straight by doing what’s right politically, we shouldn’t continue to set negative precedent that is not worthy of emulation by younger generations forthcoming.
