President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to hold His Excellency, the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki responsible if there is an ethnic crisis between the Ijaws of Ikoro and the Binis of Obazuwa in Edo State.

The call was made by Rt. Hon. Bob Collins Igetei, deputy speaker Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Mobile Parliament Worldwide via a statement he personally signed and issued to newsmen in Benin, the capital of Edo State yesterday, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.

According to him, the brewing misunderstanding between the people of Ikoro and Obazuwa is something that ought to have been tamed before  now by a serious Governor, stressing that it has lingered for too long now.

However, he said while the IYC is a peaceful organisation, he has read many publications from the various organs of council calling on the Governor to intervene on the matter before it dovetailed into something else, regretting that up till now, nothing tangible has been done to remedy the situation.

The Deputy Speaker, Igetei expressed disappointment over the way and manner the Governor has been quiet despite the frequent attacks allegedly meted out on the people of Ikoro community by their neighbours Obazuwa community in Edo State.

Nevertheless, Bob Collins said if the lawlessness continues in Edo State without the Governor doing anything to calm the situation, the Ijaws will not seat and watch quietly to see any calculated attempt to obliterate the Ijaws in the State.
