End of the road as vigilante group gun down 4 sea pirates in Burutu river

No fewer than five persons were killed in a broad day gun battle between rampaging sea pirates and vigilante group patrolling the Burutu river, in Burutu Local government area of Delta State at the weekend.

The Liberator Newspaper can report that the Burutu community is in wild jubilation following the death of the five pirates who they said have become notorious in recent times.

According to the report, the Delta State Police Commissioner. Mr. Adeyinka Adeleke confirmed the incident when responding to a phone call put across to him, he said ”My DPO in Burutu told me five seapirates were killed at the weekend during an encounter with vigilante in the area. Call the DPO in that area,he will tell you better. I am in another serious security meeting” He said.

It was gathered that the sea pirates before meeting their tragic end, robbed a passenger boat, carting away their belongings, but luck ran out of them when one of the passenger alerted a vigilante group who were on patrol nearby.

Eye witness who pleaded anonymity and was a victim of the robbery attack narrated that ”The squad responded to the distress call immediately after the sea robbers had left. They followed at the direction of the thieves and after a short time, gun exchange happened for sometimes. The vigilantes returned with some of the corpses of the seapirates to the Burutu town Police station to report the incidence to the Police.’’

The people of Burutu and surrounding communities are said to be happy over the recent feat by the vigilante group as they had been constant victims of sea pirates attacks.

It would be recalled that 17 android phones were recovered from the pirates
