Ex-Niger Delta Warlord, Banky Appeals To Okowa, Otuaro To Address Underdevelopment Of Odidi

By Binebai Princewill

A Niger Delta former warlord from oil rich Odidi and its federated communities in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, Don Banky has appealed to the duo of His Excellencies Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State and his deputy, Barr. (Dcn) Kingsley Burutu Otuaro  to consider the people of Odidi with developmental projects and political appointments.

Don Banky made the call yesterday via a statement issued to newsmen in Warri, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper.

The former warlord while decrying the poor state of underdevelopment that had since engulfed his community, Odidi, an oil producing community in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State said his community, Odidi have been neglected and relegated to the lowest background from the spheres of the government.

He regretted that while Odidi Federated Community has been contributing to the economic viability of Delta State and Nigeria by producing barrels of oil over the years, the level of Government attention has been nothing good to write home about.

Banky stressed that just as there is no level of infrastructural development in the community despite their political contributions over the years, especially for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), there is also no political appointment given to sons and daughters of Odidi despites having capable hands to manage any office in government.

However, Don Banky noted that Odidi Federated Community is host to several oil companies.

He had particularly appealed to the duo of Governor  Okowa and Otuaro to correct the alleged age long injustice meted out on his people over the years  by appointing sons and daughters of Odidi into Government offices and to consider them with developmental projects, stressing that the Okowa’s regime must be different from other administrations so far in Delta State.

In his words: “Don Banky, leader of the Ex-Niger Delta Warlords from Odidi Federated Communities in Warri South West LGA Delta state. I appeal to the State Governor and our amiable Deputy to consider Odidi federate communities for state projects and his indigenes for appointment since the inception of democracy till date odidi community who host several oil and gas companies like, NPDC, HERITAGE, NECONDE, NGC and others have been neglected by every succeful government so i appeal to the present government to correct the injustice meted on odidi community and his indigenes”
