EXCLUSIVE: Delta Waterway: Goodluck Joel Recounts How He Escaped Death

Goodluck Joel, Chairman of the Good Joe Foundation (GJF), a Non Governmental Organisation based in Delta State have recounted his ordeal on how he escaped death in the Delta State Waterway.

He hinted The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide that he will not be in a hurry to forget what happened to him on the 27th of September 2021 at the Ekogbene-Abadama waterway in Operemo Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State. 

Goodluck Joel asserted that he left Warri for Burutu community on that same day for some personal reasons but later saw the need to visit Abadama community in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State to see his inlaws.

He continued that it was while he was at the water front jetty in Abadama that armed and fierce looking civilians came to attack him and forcefully throw him into their 85 engine speed boat at gunpoint while trying to take away his passport engine as well. 

Joel alleged that with the manner with which he was rough handled by the strange gunmen, it was clear to him that his life was in grave danger and that they where out to kidnap him, to take his boat and eventually he was not certain about his safety either. 

Speaking further, the young philanthropist maintained that he was shocked when the gunmen identified themselves as members of the Delta State waterway security covering the Ekogbene – Abadama axis.

However, he said it was like a miracle when one Commander Jeremiah Iyepade, a commander in the Delta State waterway security outfit covering the Burutu Local Government waterway showed up to rescue Goodluck Joel from the ill intentions of the former group. Joel added that when questions were thrown at Commander Jeremiah on his miraculous timely invention, Jeremiah said he acted based on intel gotten from certain quarters. 

Nevertheless, Goodluck Joel had called on Chairman of the Delta State Waterway/Land Security Committee, Chief Boro Opudu to urgently disband the said group in the Ekogbene/Abadama axis, adding that people should not hide under the umbrella of such a notable security outfit to commit all manner of crimes. 

He said the call for the urgent disbandment of the group have become necessary as so many people must have fall prey to the group in the area, adding that justice must prevail.

The youth leader had maintained that he will not rest until those behind his attempted kidnap is made to face the full wrath of the law.

Joel particularly praised Commander Jeremiah for doing a great job in the Delta State waterway, particularly in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State. 

Meanwhile, all efforts geared towards reaching out to Chief Boro Opudu, Chairmen of the Delta State waterway/land Security Committee to hear his own side of the story was unsuccessful as we could not reach him via his mobile phone as at the time of filling this report.
