According to a source in the presidency that would not want his name to be mentioned in print had hinted The Liberator Newspaper that the Federal Government of Nigeria seem to have concluded plans to scrap the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme, PAP.

The source stated that the controversial interim committee that is in place now has a mandate of collating data, paying all students fees both in the country and abroad to the point of their graduation.

The commitee will also pay all PAP contractors in order to ensure that they are not owing anyone hence when it becomes clear that they have cleared all financial dealings in the office, then it has been alleged that the programme would then be scrapped.

In what would appear as a worrisome development to Niger Deltans, particularly the Ijaws, it has been alleged that the national security adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, Gen. Babagana Monguno has already written a memo and forwarded to President Buhari to act on it for the total scrapping of the programme.

According to our source, part of the recommendations in the memo, the NSA stated that the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme overtime has become a conduit pipe in siphoning wealth for personal aggrandizement.

He noted that it has been corruption upon corruption hence the scrapping of the programme would be the best thing to do.

NSA Monguno also wondered that while the Federal Government workers are on thirty thousand naira (N30,000,00) minimum wage, the Ex-agitators are receiving N65,000,00 stipend for a month, a situation the NSA said is not acceptable.

However, the source said President Muhammadu Buhari is yet to sign the allegedly dangerous memo to perfect the grand plot to undo Niger Deltans of PAP.

From all indications, the fate of the Amnesty Programme is hanging on whether President Buhari will sign the memo for the scrapping of the programme or not.

Niger Deltans, particularly the former Ex-agitators must rise up quickly to raise their voices and take necessary actions to stop the Federal Government of Nigeria not to csrryout their plan of discontinuing the programme.
