Ezekiel visit’s Sapele council boss, preaches peace, makes case for youths

The Senior Special Assistant on security to the Delta State Governor, Comr. Daniel Ezekiel has stated that only peace and security of lives and properties can bring meaningful development in the society.

He was speaking when he paid a courtesy visit to the Sapele Local government chairman Hon Eugene Inoaghan in his office at the council secretariat in Sapele on Friday.

Hon Ezekiel noted that there is a nexus between security and development, as no town or state can move forward in an atmosphere of chaos and insecurity.

He commended Sapele Local Government boss for his giant strides in the area of peace building and fight against all forms of criminality in the the area.

”l want to commend you for your developmental stride and the relative peace in Sapele Local Government. Your commitment in the fight against criminality in Sapele is commendable.”

The SSA stressed that peace is the result of the visible infrastructural development seen in Sapele. He said the governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa is committed to bringing more development to Sapele when there is peace, charging residents to sustain the existing peace.

Also, he advised the Local Government boss to embark on value re orientation projects targeted at youths such as sensitization programmes that will expose the youths on the dangers of social vices such as drug abuse and cultism

In his words: ” l also want to charge you to organize annual sensitization programme to enlighten the youths and students in Sapele on the dangers of drug abuse, this will help to curb crimes related to cultism and other social vices ”

Comr. Daniel assured Hon. Eugene that his office is ready to assist the local government in the area of intelligence gathering on security as well as give fresh ideas that will help reduce crime to the barest minimum

”My office is ready to work with you on the area of intelligence gathering on security, as well as to bring fresh ideas in order to curb the menace of cultism to ensure a crime free society in Sapele and its environ ” he stated

Reacting, the chairman commended the visiting SSA for such initiative, saying his visit was timely, noting that his administration has already commenced security enlightenment across communities in the local government, and assured him that he will do more.

He also thanked security operatives for their gallant nature in the fight against insecurity both in the State and the country in general .
