FG urged to commence work on NMU permanent site at Okerenkoko

The Federal Government has been called upon to properly fund the Nigerian Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko, Delta State, and offset the infrastructural deficit so as to pave way for academic works in the permanent site at Okerenkoko in Gbaramatu kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.
A concerned youth of the community, Boukan Godwin, while making the call recently lamented that due to abandonment of works by contractors handling construction of the site, the whole site has turned thick Forest.
He said contractors such as Oyeiteke Global Network Nigeria Limited,Package B CGC Nigeria Limited, Chain, Package C Evomec Global Service, Package D1 Chevice & Simon Construction Company Limited, Package D2 Bibobre Int’l Service Nigeria Limited, Package E1 Tonac Nigeria Limited.
Others are PackageE2 Deinomas Float Nigeria Limited, Package E3, Altexneering Limited, Package E4 Bugabi Construction & Engineering Limited, Package E5 Cutech Nigeria Limited, Package E6 Marina Energy Limited were all mobilised to the permanent site to commence work but after few months they all left and has left the site bushy.
Godwin pleaded to the Federal Government to order the contractors back to site and commence the project at the Maritime University, Okerenkoko, as he promised safety and security for all workers that may come in to work at the site.
Speaking on the proposed Dockyard at the community, the Okerenkoko youth lamented that the economic potential of the shipyard/dockyard is yet to be exploited, stressing that the projects need adequate attention.
He further said the proposed Seaport, the EPZ project all need Federal Government’s attention and funding so as to make them come on live.
Goodwin urged the Federal Government to construct major bridges in this host community to NMU so as to connect it the inland cities and towns.
