While defending the people of Gbaramatu Kingdom for their demands, Banky said the demands are not only sensible but are issues that if addressed will put smiles on the faces of all sons and daughters of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Ijaw nation, Niger Delta and Nigerians at large.

Don Banky noted that addressing the demands urgently on the part of the  Federal Government will be the best thing to do as Nigeria should avoid any action that will plunge the country into another round of unrest as the novel coronavirus is already making things difficult for the country.

In his words: “Over the years, the Federal Government of Nigeria has been drilling oil out of the bowels of Gbaramatu Kingdom without any commensurate attention in terms of development, relocating the dockyard back to Gbaramatu Kingdom, immediate commencement of the EPZ project to provide employment opportunities for Ijaws, Niger Delta and Nigerians at large, massive infrastructural development

, better funding of the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko and a proper attention is not a difficult thing to ask for the enormous oil being exported out of the kingdom on a daily basis”.

Banky continued that the Federal Government must act swiftly in addressing the various issues raised by the Gbaramatu people and particularly called on President Muhammadu Buhari to disregard any group in the Niger Delta trying to say otherwise.

“From the Odidi axis, we are in total support of the move taken by the Gbaramatu Kingdom, the Federal Government of Nigeria must listen to them now in order to address the myriads of underdevelopmental challenges bedeviling the kingdom.” Don Banky stated.
