Group calls for a united Niger Delta, speaks against tribal sentiments

A Non Governmental Organisation operating under the auspices of Progressive Youth Leadership Foundation of Niger Delta, PYLFND, has called for a united Niger Delta where sentiments among tribes in the region must not be allowed to flourish among Niger Deltans.

The remark was made by national president of PYLFND, Comr. Adams Ogomugo Diplomat, during his visit to Edo State on the 17th of February 2020, stressing that Niger Deltans must look beyond ethnicity politics in the region.

The President in his press briefing, spoke with newsmen during the official inauguration of the Edo state chapter executive at Oduware Lodge, Benin city where he handed over the Constitution of NDPYLF to the state chapter chairman Comr. Mingo F Saya.

Some Members of the newly inaugurated executive include Comr Mingo F Saya, Chairman; Comr. Gandi T. Wisdom, Secretary; Hon. Nike Tame Edah P. R. O; Hon Osagie Abayomi, mobilization officer; Comr Uahomo Courage, Woman leader; Comr. Yanboh Samson, Assistant Secretary; Comr. Anita Godwin, Financial Secretary as well as others.

Speaking further, Comr. Adams noted that the Niger Delta Non Governmental Youth Organisation comprises the nine states in the region, which are Abia , Akwa-Ibom, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Imo, Rivers and Ondo states.

The state chapter chairman Comr. Mingo Friday briefly made an acceptance speech who thanked the National president and his executive for finding him worthy to serve in the capacity of the state chapter chairman, vowing that he will bring the expected peace and unity to the foundation and Niger Delta at large.

Earlier, the National President had pointed out some ethnic barriers facing the region as a result of the disunity among ethnic groups in Niger Delta that has under developed the region over the years. He therefore urged all tribes in Niger Delta to take a bold step to build a lasting relationship which according to him will fast track development in the region.

Comrade Adams therefore formally welcome Edo state chapter chairman and his executive to the foundation.
