A renowned Niger Delta Group, the Ijaw Defenders Mandate (IDM) on Monday defended and showered praises on the New Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Gen. Barry Tariye Ndiomu (Rtd) on his decisions so far in purging the programme off alleged age long corruption in the programme.

The Ijaw Defenders Mandate (IDM) noted that the fight against corruption and illegality in the Amnesty programme taken by the New Interim Administrator of the Programme, Gen. Barry Tariye Ndiomu (Rtd) is commendable and something that should be celebrated by right thinking Niger Deltans.

This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Warri earlier today by Comr. Solomon Igbanwei, Public Relations Officer of the Ijaw Defenders Mandate, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.

Speaking further, the group maintained that Gen. Barry Tariye Ndiomu is transforming the Amnesty Programme within a period of two months that he has presided over the office, stressing that he should be supported and not distracted.

However, IDM while assuring Gen. Ndiomu and the Amnesty Office the group’s readiness to render their support along this regard whenever the need arises, asserted that the group is well pleased with the actions of Ndiomu so far.

While lauding the latest move, the group had called on Ndiomu to continue his move to uncover more alleged illegalities in the office.

Another area the group is calling for probe is the educational sector of the programme, stressing that he should not relent in his quest to uncover more fraudulent activities in the Amnesty Programme as good spirited Niger Deltans will continue to support and stand by him.

Nevertheless, Mr. Solomon Igbanwei had in the statement warned against anyone from the Niger Delta region trying to distract Ndiomu over his genuine and clear intention to make things work in the programme.

The statement continued that if not for Ndiomu’s smartness and respurfulness, the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) for which many people are talking about today would have been technically terminated, opining that Niger Deltans will continue to owe Ndiomu in high esteem.

Meanwhile, the statement asserted that corruption must not be allowed to strive in the Amnesty Programme, adding that Ndiomu from the look of things is like an angel sent by God to fix the Amnesty programme for the better.
