An interest group known as Indigenous People of Niger Delta (IPND), has called on the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege to rise to the occasion in addressing some of the many challenges facing the Niger Delta region, especially the oil bearing rural communities .
The group made the call through a release titled the ” Political Enigma ” signed by its President-General Prince Tiemo Pumokumo and obtained by The Liberator.
They described the emergence of Omo-Agege as the Deputy Senate President as ” divine and answer to the crying voices that have been suppressed into oblivion for decades ”
The group also said that by virtue of the position of the Deputy Senate President as the number 5 citizen of Nigeria, he has been well placed to strategically build peace and be a uniting force across various groups in the Niger Delta region and Nigeria .
”DSP Omo Agege has been strategically placed in a position to unite and build a bridge across the Niger Delta and a link to every other part of Nigeria as a Nation ”
IPDN appealed to the DSP to use his good office to help solve the many challenges facing rural communities in the Niger Delta area particularly those who bear the brunt of exploration activities of the oil companies.
”We urge DSP to intervene on some challenges facing the Niger Delta people mostly in the Rural Communities who bear the immediate effects of Oil exploration either as host Communities or impacted Communities,
amongst other things ”
Similarly, the group have made sundry declarations which it said where products of extensive research, noting that they are very optimistic that if the declarations are religiously followed will bring the needed solution to the numerous economic and socio- political problems in Nigeria.

The group also applauded President Muhammad Buhari’s led government for opening up more activities in Warri, Port Harcourt and Onne seaports while also urging him to expedite action on the Clean up of Ogoni project
” We must commend President Muhammadu Buhari led administration for the increase in Port activities in Warri Port and Onne over the last six months, A quick start of the EPZ project and other industrialization initiatives will be of great benefit to the Niger Delta Region and we also want the Government to expedite the Ogoni clean up project ”
