He is innocent of allegations, he is a responsible Nigerian that should be left alone – NDYC

A leading Human Rights group in Africa operating under the auspices of Niger Delta Youth Conference, NDYC has vowed to resist any attempt to malign Airpeace boss,
Bar. Allen Onyema by the Department of Justice in United States of America.

The group made their reaction earlier today via a statement issued to newsmen in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper signed by the trio of Okon Victor Edet, Chairman; Oyinkuro Taremi, Secretary as well as Mukoro Ogaga, Publicity secretary.

The right group particularly stated that the Airpeace Chairman, Bar. Allen Onyema is innocent of the allegations levelled against him by the Department of Justice in the United States of America, maintaining that he is a responsible Nigerian that should be left alone.

The group hinted reporters in Nigeria that its members are drawn from all ethnic groups that constitutes the peaceful and Oil rich Niger Delta region.

The statement reminded Nigerians and the United States of America how Onyema in the spirit of patriotism rescued stranded and trapped Nigerians in South Africa during the recent Xenophobic attacks on Nigerians, insisting that such a person deserves to be treated as a rare global personality that needed to be pampered by the United States and the World at large.

The Niger Delta Youth Conference stressed that their position to defend the Airpeace Chief Executive Officer, CEO is in solidarity of a detribalized Nigerian and patriot who have contributed in no smaller measure the peaceful nature of the Niger Delta region and the country at large.

Speaking among other issues, the rights group described the attacks on Onyema via the media and from the Department of Justice in the United States of America as strange and a calculated plan to tarnish the hard earned reputation of the Airpeace Chairman.

The statement reads in full bellow:

NIGER DELTA YOUTH CONFERENCE (NDYC)

24/11/2019

Press Release

WE WILL RESIST ANY ATTEMPT TO MALIGN ONYEMA, LIVE HIM ALONE, HE IS A RESPONSIBLE NIGERIAN

An emergency stakeholders meeting of the aforementioned organisation met on the 23rd November 2019 at Eket in Akwa Ibom State inview of recent developments orchestrated by the Department of Justice in United States of America targeted at Bar. Allen Onyema ( Chairman of Airpeace) to malign and tarnish this patriotic Nigerian who has distinguished himself and written his name in gold on the sands of time.

The youths from different ethnic nationalities numbering about one hundred (100) from the Niger Delta drawn from all strata of society totally condemn the unpatriotic and coordinated attacks on the peace loving personality and philanthropist Chief Allen Oyeama through legal and media blackmail.

We have watched in total displeasure how this man of peace who was a major stakeholder in brokering peace in our once distressed region of the Niger Delta, has been brandished by naysayers a fraud even without waiting to hear his side of the story.

All these while as a front liner in the peace process in the Niger Delta, Chief Allen Onyeama dedication and relationship across board was instrumental in the peace we all enjoy today. While we are also very much aware of his great deeds even away from the Niger Delta.

Just recently, he was a celebrated patriot for sending aircraft to airlift stranded Nigerians in south Africa in the wake of the xenophobic attacks.

As a people, we express uter dismay over the seemingly orchestrated plan from the Department of Justice in United States of America to stain his hard earned reputation, we not only consider the attacks on Onyema as strange but also against all sense of morality.

Therefore, as a group that knows the capacity of him and his pedigree as a pure, successful and stainless businessman, we will continue to stand by him and defend him to the latter. He is no doubt of the finest in Nigeria.

This person with such a character of empathy and great business acumen can not be seen condescending as low as defrauding anyone.

It is in solidarity of a detribalized Nigerian and patriot; Chief Allen Onyeama the chairman of Air peace, that we take the following position on the subject matter:

That while Chief Allen Onyeama has committed to the judicial process through his legal team, we expect the American authorities to treat him with some respect and dignity as a globally recognised business man and peace ambassador.

That we demand commitment of the Nigerian government to stand by a responsible citizen to ensure that Justice is by no means undermined.

That we stand with him in this trying times and till the end of this failed episode to tarnish his image.

That Chief Allen is innocent of all charges until proven otherwise, which we seriously doubt would be possible to proof what never existed.

That Chief Allen deserves the support, solidarity and prayers of all well meaning Nigerians irrespective of their status and creed.

Signed

Okon Victor Edet

Chairman

Oyinkuro Taremi

Secretary

Mukoro Ogaga

Publicity secretary.

Meanwhile, it would be recalled that recently the United States’ District Court of the Northern District of Georgia has issued a warrant of arrest for Chairman and CEO of Air Peace, Allen Onyema.

The U.S. Marshals Service were authorized by the warrant signed by Magistrate of the court Justin Anand, to take Mr Onyema into custody.

The United States authorities also frozed about $14.2 million in bank accounts linked to companies registered by Allen Onyema, the chairman of Air Peace Limited.

Mr Onyema and Ejiroghene Eghagha, Air Peace’s head of finance and administration, were recently indicted for alleged $20 million money laundering and bank fraud in the United States.

However, both suspects strongly deny the allegations and said they looked forward to proving their innocence in court.

Nevertheless, there are insinuations that the extradition treaty between Nigeria and the United States which allows the extradition of suspects in both countries facing criminal charges, might be invoked following the issuance of the warrant of arrest.

NDYC is reacting to all of these allegations against Onyema, adding that it is nothing but blamail that will not stand the test of time, noting that the Airpeace boss is too responsible to be dragged into such debacle.
