It was gathered that Agip has been operating and exploring oil and gas in the location since 2006 and refused to recognized her host community, Tuomo in Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State.
“NOAC has failed to give any well meaning development to the community since their arrival, no single presence of Agip in the community. The people have been leaving in darkness while Agip have electricity in their site 24hrs, Agip refused to supply a good water system to the people not to talk of employing their teaming youths in which most of the youths are graduates.” Anthony Ekpela, a youth leader in Tuomo stated.
The community had further noted that, Agip neglected the people and undermined the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) earlier reached with the people.

Comrade Abeokuta Ebikonbowei while addressing the press had expressed his anger and disappointment towards Agip and stated that the Oil company is applying the old divide and rule system by using some individuals of the community and neglected the demands of the entire community in the (MoU) earlier reached with Agip.
He had further stated that until Agip does the needful, otherwise Youths and Elders will continue to remain on the site.
In his words: “If Agip need peace, we will give them peace and If they need trouble we will surely give them trouble as no good thing ever comes easy without a trouble especially in Nigeria”.
