History was made yesterday as umbrella body covering all Ijaw activists cum comrades in Delta State, the Delta Ijaw Comrade Community (DICC) finally debated and adopted a constitution to regulate activities of the group as a working document. The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide can report.
While assenting to the Constitution, Amb. Binebai Yerin Princewill, President of the Delta Ijaw Comrade Community (DICC) had appreciated members who took out their time to be attending meetings to debate on the constitution.
However, while lauding them, Princewill noted that history has been made as it will be on record that these are the group of people that were present on the day the constitution was adopted, he particularly halled the John Gbozimor led constitution drafting committee for a job well done.
President Binebai assured members of the community that he will continue to work hard in ensuring that DICC gets to its desired destination, promising that as the president, he will ensure that the constitution is fully adhered to and that its provisions remain binding on every member of the group.
According to him, DICC under his watch had during the inauguration in May 2021 promised to give a constitution to the community, stressing that with the adoption of the constitution, the promise of providing a constitution for the group has been achieved.
He continued that the constitution was finally adopted after series of meetings held in order to look at phrases, clauses, sections and articles of the constitution by members of the group.
However, after the adoption of the constitution, the group have also decided in the meeting that come Monday April 18th 2022, the long anticipated big get together celebration of DICC will be coming up where the group will use the opportunity to honour those that have stood behind the group.
Nevertheless, to this effect, a four (4) man committee was set up headed by Comr. Ayetan Godstime Daniel as Chairman, Comr. Ebolo Samuel, Chairman of all chairmen, Western Zone (IYC) was made secretary of the committee
Other members of the committee include Comr. Williams Welemu Jnr, PA to the ED, PRS, DESOPADEC on Publicity and Students and Comr. Pukon Nerisa.
The meeting also resolved that members of the group should turn out in their numbers to grace Esegha’s marriage in Warri on Sartuday 26th 2022 and that of SA Ozobo’s launching of Congress Newspaper March 4th in Warri.
It would be recalled that the meeting was done at the DICC Patron’s residence in Warri, Delta State where he also tasked the body to continue to be the mouth piece of Ijaws in the state.
