Host Communities raise alarm over WRPC planned shutout of Support Staff in Delta

Host Communities on Sunday raised alarm that the Management of the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company,WRPC has planned to shut out its “Support Staff” who are members of the Communities on Monday April 8.The host communities raised the alarm in a communique signed by Messers Eyewu Omeyen, Okpako Victor and Richmond Gogo said this is to coerce the Support Staff to adopt its proposed management decision of continuous “modernized slavery.”

The host communities said WRPC is making the plans due to the demand by the Warri Support Staff of the Company who have spent years on the plant to be converted to “Permanent Staff.”

The host communities said WRPC hopes to achieve its aim with the use of stern looking Security Operatives which will be drafted to its premises.

While drawing the attention of Nigerians to the development, the host communities said Nigerians should hold WRPC responsible should there be any breakdown of law and order in the area.

“We the support staff remains resolute in our decision of unconditional conversion from WRPC/ NNPC management that felt it is wise to keep us in perpetual slavery.”

The Management of the Warri Petrochemical Company, WRPC could not be reached for comments at the time of this report.
