The International Day of Peace 2020, which is themed, “Shaping Peace Together” is around the corners, and The Center for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) is seriously committed to mark the day with commendable legacies.

In line with the CEPEJ’s vision of building and promoting peaceful coexistence in Nigeria and beyond, the CEO and Founder of the Center For Peace & Environmental Justice, Comrade Sheriff Mulade donates a well digitalized edifice of contemporary standard to the State Intelligence Investigation Department of the Warri Area Command of Nigerian Police Force.

The environmental activist, Comrade Sheriff Mulade highlighted in his welcome address that the kind gesture is to complement government efforts to make the police force a functioning security agency hyping on the rising spate of crises, crimes, and criminal activities in Nigeria.

In furtherance of his address, the Center For Peace & Environmental Justice has set 2020 to be listening and learning year, as well as contributing to the achievement of the SDGs through appropriate measures. “There is the need for synergy between Civil Societies and the Nigerian Police Force particularly in Warri to achieve the needed peace and rancour-free environment.” Mulade stated.

“Moreover, the Nigerian Police Force has been up and doing in protecting lives and property. The fight to make the society a liveable place isn’t in the hands of government and police alone. We are as a people must complement the efforts of the duo. CEPEJ in alliance has accepted the call to collaborate with millions of people worldwide to be part of UN75, being the largest and furthest-reaching global conversation on building the peaceful and prosperous future.

“CEPEJ is a non-government organisation, very apolitical that champions activities of peace building, and advocates for human rights and good governance. The environmental justice sustainability remains a priority for the civil organisation.”.

The Key Note Speakers, Prof. Bakut Tswah Bakut, Director General of Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution, and the Commissioner of Police, Delta state, Hafiz Inuwa Mni further buttressed on the quaintessentials of a peaceful society that will accommodate investment and development. A society where there is no peace and unity irrespective of diverse cultural backgrounds will remain stagnant and eluded of progression in economy and infrastructures.

The aforementioned speakers inclusive of others at the handover ceremony commended the Center For Peace & Environmental Justice for the good works and collaborative efforts to make the Nigerian society a liveable one since its inception.

Progressively, events birthed other events as the Commissioner of Police (CP), Delta State on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) commissioned the Digitalized Intelligence Investigation Building as donated by CEPEJ to be judiciously utilised by the Intelligence Department.
