How Pondi, Amgbaduba, Guwor, Pullah, Sinebe, others storm Youbebe for Godspenal Football Tournament

Saturday seem to be a day the people of Ogulagha Kingdom in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State will never forget in a hurry as personalities from all works of life thronged Youbebe community to grace the Godspenal 2019 maiden edition of his football tournament.

The 23 days long football tournament finally came to an end on the 2nd of November 2019 at the Youbebe Football pitch in Ogulagha Kingdom which saw Sokebolou Fc thrashing their counterparts Yokiri Fc 1-0 to become champions of the tournament.

It was truly a wonderful show as both teams displayed high level of professionalism at the Youbebe pitch to the bewilderment of all that came from far and near to grace the epoch making occasion.

The magical goal scored by Blessing Towei gave victory to the Sokebolou Fc who coaxed home with victory by being champions of the maiden edition of the Godspenal Football Tournament.

Some of the high ranking dignitaries that attended the occasion include Hon. Julius Pondi, member representing Burutu Federal constituency, house of representatives; Hon. Asupa Peter Forteta, member representing Burutu North, Delta State House of Assembly; Hon. Pullah Ekpotuayerin, member representing Burutu South, Delta State, Delta State House of Assembly; Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, member representing Warri South West, Delta State House of Assembly; Prince Emman Ambgaduba, commissioner Oil & Gas, Delta State; Hon. Emmanuel Sinebe, member representing Patani, Delta State House of Assembly among very many others that thronged out in their numbers to grace the occasion.

Earlier, as part of events marking the closing ceremony of the tournament, the curtain raiser between Delta Babes Fc and Golden Girls Fc of Ogulagha ended in a goalless draw.

It would be recalled that during the opening ceremony of the Godspenal Football Tournament at the Ogulagha community football pitch on the 10th of October 2019, the Delta Babes crushed Golden Girls Fc of Ogulagha 2-0.

In his speech, chief sponsor of the tournament, Apst. Dr. Godspower Tomone explained that the purpose for hosting the tournament was to select talents from the enlisted teams to form the Godspenal Football Academy.

Tomone maintains that arrangements are on ground to get the Godspenal Football Academy register in the Nigeria Premier league, noting that he is optimistic that his academy will in the nearest future produce national and international players from the creeks of Niger Delta.

Climax of the grand finale was the unveiling of the 32 man team of the Godspenal Football Academy drawn from 12 teams out of the 18 teams that played the tournament.

The Youbebe Football pitch was filled to the brim with different personalities across Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State and beyond.

The battle for 3rd prize was between Eluwe Fc and Island Fc that saw the Island Fc demolishing their Odimodi counterparts by winning the #100,000 3rd prize.

Meanwhile, 1st prize of the tournament, the Sokebolou Fc goes home with #200,000 while Yokiri Fc took the 2nd prize of #150,000.

The Liberator Newspaper can report that there were other consolation prizes which include, best player, highest goal scorer, best goal keeper, best coach and other prizes.
