How Warri Quake For Mulade’s 4th Edition Of Quiz/Essay Competition In Delta – The Liberator

The 4th edition of the Comrade Sheriff Mulade Inter-local government quiz and essay competition for Rural/Riverine secondary schools in Warri North, Warri South and Warri South West Local Government Areas of Delta state has ended with a charge on participants to be shining examples and be beacon of hope to others.

The competition which held at Hussey College Warri saw Alema and Egbokodo secondary schools defeating seven other participating schools to emerge first in junior and senior category respectively.

Speaking during the event, the organiser and coordinator of Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ ,) Amb. Comr. Sheriff Mulade competition was organized to sustain the existing peace among the ethnic nationalities in the communities within the three (3) Warri Local Government Areas in Delta State, particularly the Ijaws, Itsekiris and the Urhobo people.

Mulade told participants that the ”annual competition is aimed at bridging the gap between the Rural/Riverine schools and their counterparts, so that the Coastal schools can have a taste of what they have been denied over time in terms of academic competition and exposure.”

He urged multinational oil companies within the area to channel more of their corporate social responsibility functions to education development that will help to eradicate illiteracy and reduce civil unrest in their operational areas in line with Goal 4 of the SDGs.

The following schools participated in the competition; Ogbe-Ijoh Secondary School, Okerenkoko Secondary School, Ogidigben Grammar School, Alema Secondary School, Obodo Secondary School, Erejuwa Secondary School, Egbokodo Secondary School, and Oloduwa Secondary School, all from the three local government area in Warri metropolis.

The competition featured essay writing for the Senior Secondary School classes and quiz competition for the Junior Secondary School category.

At the end of the competition, Alema secondary school, Abigborodo. Warri North, emerged winner with the Prize of N100,000.

Egbokodo Secondary School came second and received a cash prize of N70,000. While Okerenkoko Secondary school took third position and received the sum of N50,000.

For essay writing, Egbokodo Secondary School emerged winner and smiled home with N50,000 all cash prize Alema Secondary School came second place and got N30,000 while Erejuwa Secondary School came distant third and received N20,000.

It would be recalled that the event took place at the Hussey College in Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State on Wednesday 26th 2020.

However, all those who spoke during the Quiz / Essay competition had lauded Amb. Mulade, leader of CEPEJ for his humanitarian activities over the years, stressing that his likes are few in the African continent, praying that he should succeed in whatever he does.

The event was well attended by key players in the Delta State educational sector, Local Government as well as other lovers of Education that stormed the programme.
