Insecurity: Kalanama Calls For Synergy Between Security Agencies And Communities In Delta – The Liberator

For effective combatting of crime in Delta State, His Royal Majesty, Pere Luke Kalanama (VIII), paramount ruler of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom in Bomadi Local Government Area and 2nd Vice Chairman, Delta State Council of traditional rulers has called for synergy between security agencies and community leaderships in the state.

The paramount ruler made the statement in a meeting attended by the DPO, DCO 2i/c Bomadi Division, DSS, Civil Defense Bomadi and Chairmen of the various Communities in the Local Government Area summoned at the Traditional Headquarters of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom, Akugbene Town on Saturday the 30th of May 2020 at his Palace.
“The call for synergy between Security agencies and the various communities in Bomadi Local Government Area became imperative on the fight against crime in our domain.

“Relative peace and Development can only be enjoyed when members of the community embrace security as a shared and collective responsibility in order to win the war against crime in our domain”. King Kalanama stated.

Speaking further, HRM had thanked the various security agencies and the various community chairmen for their solidarity and advised them to ensure that socurity issues are given utmost priority in their various communities.

The DPO while addressing the gathering, thanked HRM PERE KALANAMA (VIII) JP, for convening such a meeting to cross-fertilize ideas in combatting Crime and seek possible ways of attracting development to the Local Government and the Kingdom at large.

He further thanked the people for their cooperation and relative peace enjoyed so far on his resumption of duty and appealed well meaning sons and daughters of the Local Government to help the Division with a patrol vehicle to aid prompt response to security challenges.

In a similar manner, representatives of the DSS emphasized the alarming rate of drugs and cultism related activities in the various communities and warned parents to advise their children as the security agents are out to deal with anyone caught in such act.

On his part, representatives of the Civil Defense appreciated the unity exhibited by the Community Chairmen Forum for making the work of community policing easier and encouraged them to give the security vital informations to curb crime in their localities.

Barr Theophilus A Omoro, Chairman of the Community Chairmen Forum Bomadi Local Government Area on behalf of its members and their various communities responded by appreciating HRM KALANAMA VIII for initiating the meeting to aid the pace of development and collective response to the fight against crime in collaboration with the security agencies, stressing that the act will continue to yield great result.

The Chairman also showered words of appreciation to the various security agencies for the good relationship enjoyed within the few days of constituting the forum, describing it as a sign of better days in the Local Government.

The Forum Chairman also use the medium to make an appeal to HRM KALANAMA VIII JP, the State and the Local Government Chairman to intervene in their plea to increase the number of Vigilantes in each community to re-double the strength of security agencies in curbing crime to its barest minimum.
