IPDI dares Nigeria Navy, demands justice for Okwuadigbo’s death – The Liberator

Renowned right group, the Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative (IPDI) has condemned the alleged extra judicial killing of Mrs Chioma Okwuadigbo by a trigger happy naval personnel in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The group has also called on relevant authorities to effect the arrest and prosecution of the killer officer to serve as deterrent to others.

The spokesperson of the group, Timi Ogobiri while speaking to newsmen in Warri on Tuesday urged the Nigeria Navy to single out the personnel who committed the crime to face the law without further delay.

Ogobiri, lamented that killings of innocent citizens of the Niger Delta has become incessant saying that no life is now secured, considering the high level of unlawful killings among security personnel in the state.

He added that the military who ought to had secure lives and properties in the country had turned destroyers of lives and properties, and that urgent steps be taken by relevant authorities to end unlawful killings in the region as to avoid a reprisal.

Ogobiri, however called on all well meaning stakeholders in the state to strongly condemn the barbaric killing and join efforts with the deceased family to bring to justice the killer Naval personnel.

The group called on the Yenagoa Naval Command to reveal the perpetrator as to avoid unfriendly reactions towards the Naval command in the state as there was no justification for the gruesome murder of the innocent woman.
