IYC Western Zone chairmanship: Okotete Begins Campaign, Seeks Royal Blessing From Agbonu

Following the setting up of the Western Zone Electoral Committee (ZECO) of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) inline with the IYC Constitution, Dr. Doubra Collins Okotete has began his chairmanship campaign by first seeking royal blessing from his traditional ruler, His Royal Majesty, Elder Capt. (King) Joseph I. Timiyan (JP), Torububou I, Agbonu, the Ebenanawei of Ogulagha Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State. The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide can report.

Doubra who led a powerful delegation of Ijaw youths across the 24 Kingdoms constituting Western Zone such as Ondo, Edo and Delta States to the royal castle at Obotobo I community in oil rich Ogulagha Kingdom had while declaring his interest to the revered paramount ruler of Ogulagha Kingdom had maintained that he is familiar with the Ijaw struggle over the years and has also served in different capacities hence he has what it takes to lead the Ijaw youths in Western Zone to the promised land. 

Dr. Okotete  continued that he couldn’t have started his campaign without first identifying with the paramount ruler of his kingdom, stressing that his visit was to solicit for royal blessing and any other supports from the Kingdom.

While briefing Agbonu on his antecedents in council so far, Okotete noted that besides his active movement in IYC, he was a former Ogulagha  Clan representative in the Ijaw Youth Council mobile parliament, he was also a clan chairman of IYC in Ogulagha Kingdom and a former secretary of IYC Western Zone. 

Speaking further, Doubra expressed optimism that with his decades of activities in the Ijaw struggle, he is sure of victory and would deliver vocal and purposeful leadership in the  Western Zone IYC if elected. 

However, in his reaction, the paramount ruler of Ogulagha Kingdom had while blessing Dr. Okotete to go ahead for the Western Zone chairmanship contest had vowed to stand by Okotete to any length, describing Dr. Okotete as a son with whom he is well pleased.

He noted that while he will support Doubra Okotete with whatever connection and anything he has, he had charged Doubra to intensify his campaign to all kingdoms and relevant stakeholders in the Zone. 

High point of the event was the royal blessing reigned on Dr. Doubra Collins Okotete and his team by the revered traditional ruler of Ogulagha Kingdom. 

It would be recalled that Doubra Okotete and his team was led into the palace by the duo of Chief Macdonald  Anoruse (JP) and Chief Perefugha Karawei (JP) , two prominent chiefs in  Ogulagha Kingdom. 

Other chiefs present during the declaration include double chief Peter Ikiyegha (JP), double Chief Felix Ebah, Chief Collins Kemeyan (JP), Comr. Justice Timiadi Akuna, president general Ogulagha Kingdom Youth Council (OKYC) as well as others. 

Meanwhile, after leaving the royal castle of Agbonu at Obotobo I community, the Doubra Okotete campaign team also  visited Hon.  Godknows Angele, Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State for his support  at the secretariat inside his office in Burutu. 

Nevertheless, Angele had also expressed confidence on Doubra Collins Okotete, stressing that he has no iota of doubt in him that if given the chance to lead Ijaw youths in Western Zone, Okotete will deliver fully in his capacity as its chairman, adding that he is with him anytime and anyday in his quest to be the chairman of IYC Western Zone.
