Questions his appointments
By Binebai Princewill
Youths under the aegis of Ijaw Leaders of Thought, Western Zone have written an open letter to the 8th national president of IYC Worldwide on happenings around his new government.
The group had in the said open letter made available to newsmen in Warri on Thursday, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper questioned the recent appointments made by the President, describing the appointments as unnecessary and uncalled for.
The the letter in full below:
OPEN LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF IJAW YOUTH COUNCIL(IYC): CALLING ON HIM TO RENDER UNRESERVED APOLOGY TO IJAW YOUTHS AND HIS EXECUTIVE MEMBERS FOR BETRAYING THE MANDATE GIVEN TO HIM BY IJAW YOUTHS AT OPOROZA AND POOR LEADERSHIP STYLE
We have watched with great displeasure over the current happenings in council, where mr President of council have turned himself as emporia and sole administrator of Council thereby running the Council as if it’s your sole estate business.
It’s disheartening for mr President of council to be going about appointing unnecessary, functionless, double standard and uncalled for appointments when there are more fundamental and pressing issues waiting to be addressed in the Niger Delta region. If we may ask Mr President, What is the position of the Council in the ongoing constitutional review that is about to start in the country? What is the result of Mr President’s ” Fact finding Mission to NDDC” on the various corruption allegations levelled against the board ? If you don’t know, Ijaw people are already disappointed at your leadership.
You are making indiscriminate appointments, thereby delegating the constitutional functions and duties of the National Executive Council(NEC) members to innocent Ijaw youths in a way of appointments .
Imagine where there’s a functional Constitutionally elected executive Legal Advicer in person of Ebilade Obiri Esq, Secretary General Comr. Frank Pukon and Woman Leader Comr. Tina Tobusi.
Mr President, you went as far of abusing their offices by appointing a Legal Advicer of IYC from Central Zone to take over the position of the Constitutional elected Legal Advicer from Western Zone, again appointed a Chief of staff to IYC Secretariat (IJAW House) to do the work of Secretary General of Council, you have also undermine the Constitutional powers and functions of the National Deputy President of Council, you also again appointed a woman adviser of IYC from Lagos chapter, thereby taking the functional powers of the constitutionally elected women leaders office from Western Zone which is unacceptable and should be discarded immediately.
The way and manner you go alone attending meetings and with cooperate organizations without the knowledge of other executive members in council is a demonstration of bad leadership and greed at all display.
This have further shown the level of dishonesty and clueless way and manner Mr. President discharges his duties as president of Council.
Mr President, you should be reminded that, Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) have a working document and which is the Constitution and should hold sway to.
CONCLUSIVELY.
Through this letter we are callling on Mr. President, as a matter of urgency write an unreserved apology letter to Ijaw Youths and his executive members for betraying the mandate given to him at Oporoza. Mr President, it will do you more good not to intimidate or fight any of the National officers from Western Zone.
Yours in the struggles,
Sign:
