The leaders of the Association reiterated their confidence in the second tenure of the administration of President Buhari, Governor Okowa of Delta, Governor Wike of Rivers, and other elected state governors in the region to continue to attract meaningful infrastructural developments especially to the deprived various Ijaw oil and gas producing communities in the region.

The Association in its congratulatory message commends the federal government as led by President Buhari for the various empowerment initiatives including the N-Power, Tradermoni, Social Investment Programme (SIP), as well as continuing the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) in the region.

It also appreciated specifically, Governor Okowa’s SMART Agenda, in taking development for the first time in the history of Delta state, to the deprived Ijaw communities in the creeks while calling on other governors of the region to tow the same line so as to complement the efforts of the federal government in sustaining peace in the region.

The president of the Association also use the medium to appeal to the federal government as well as the various state’ leadership of the region to do more for oil and gas producing communities in the areas of infrastructure and empowerment as their current state does not reflect the status of oil and gas producing communities.

It further appeal on both the federal and state government to prevail on multinational oil companies as well as government parastatal agencies and commissions such as Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs (MNDA), and Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) to help drive developmental projects for the benefit of oil and gas host communities.
