In what has been described as an uncommon gesture, the John Dekawei Foundation (JDF), a leading Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) with International links on Monday provided succor to an Ebonyi State farmer in Delta State by providing a whopping cash for the erection of a borehole for the farmer.

The Liberator Newspaper can report that it all started on Tuesday the 22nd of September 2020 when he got the hint that there is a certain farmer in Delta State who had been having difficulty in his farm after investing all his life savings.

The source who pleaded not to be mentioned in print  hinted Amb. John Dekawei, founder and chairman of the John Dekawei Foundation (JDF) disclosed that the said farmer is truly undergoing a life threatening situation in his life after selling almost all of his properties to set up the farm.

The source continued that after going through thick and thin to establish the farm, absence of borehole in the farm is jeopardizing all his efforts in setting up the farm.

When The Liberator Newspaper contacted the farmer  who identified himself as Mr. Igwe Michael from Ebonyi State but doing his farm in Kwale, Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State, he said life has been cruel.

Mr. Igwe Michael stated that he went through a lot in setting up the farm but the non availability of a borehole seem to be causing a quagmire in his farm as he seems helpless after investing almost everything in his life into the farm.

When asked if he has other challenges in the farm, Mr. Michael said there is no other challenge apart from the borehole, he continued that since June 2020 he has been struggling to have a borehole but all to no avail.

The farmer said he even attempt to dig a borehole all by himself to constantly water his farm products for growth  but heavy downpour spoilt the whole thing as he has been praying to God for his helper,  running helter skelter before the almighty God sent an Angel in John Dekawei Foundation to come to his rescue.

When quizzed on the type of crops he is planting on his farm, Mr. Igwe stated that some of the crops include Water melon, Cucumba and Tomatoes, revealing that he ventured into farming a year ago.

Speaking on the prospects of his farming business, Igwe said his family, particularly his father is a farmer with whom he learnt his present farming ability, stressing that he is optimist that through the farming, he will recover all what he must have lost over time.

He said he is sure of making it through the farm especially now that the borehole has been provided by Amb. John Dekawei through his good spirited foundation (JDF).

However, the John Dekawei Foundation transferred the entire money needed for the erection of the borehole as presented by Mr. Igwe Michael yesterday.

While expressing happiness and praying for Amb. John Dekawei for helping him out by dolling out cash to erect the borehole, he said  “As God used  him to help  me, God will also use other people to help him too,  my prayers are always with him, I just don’t know how best to appreciate him, he should continue to succeed in life “.

Meanwhile, it would be recalled that out of his many humanitarian services to humanity, the John Dekawei Foundation on June 19th 2020 also cleared the medical bill of Mrs Peace Cletus who delivered a baby boy at the Lonia Clinic/Hospital in Udu, Udu Local Government Area of Delta State on May 27th but could not leave due to the inability of her family to pay the bill but 19 days after when the John Dekawei Foundation got a wind of it, the bill was cleared.

Mrs Peace Cletus, is an Isoko from Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State, in a similar vein, the John Dekawei Foundation rescues the life of an Ijaw lady, Mss Gift Daulami from Ogbe-Ijoh in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State  from Appendicitis on Monday 24th of August 2020.

The foundation had also rescued Mrs Ebhodaghe Obehi from Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State who delivered in the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital one week  with a healthy baby but could not leave the hospital because there was no money to pay for the delivery  bill, hence the N69,000.00 medical bill was cleared by Amb. John Dekawei.

The John Dekawei Foundation apart from visiting orphanage homes on a monthly basis with lots of packages to the orphanage homes also doled out foodstuffs to communities in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Iduwini Kingdom in Delta State as well as Egbema Kingdom in Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State during the nationwide lockdown occasioned by the novel coronavirus.

Amb. John Dekawei is President general of the revered Niger Delta Socio Cultural group under the aegis of Delta Ijaw Youth Movement for Political Advancement (DIYMPA), raising the banner of good governance in Niger Delta and Nigeria at large.
