There is massive jubilation across the Niger Delta region as the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) kicked off the training of 100 Niger Deltans as Boat Operators in Warri, Delta State earlier today. The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide can report.

According to officials of the NCDMB, the 100 Niger Deltans were carefully selected from 50 Niger Delta Communities to be trained as boat operators.

In his address during the kick-off ceremony at the Joemarine Institute of Nautical Studies and Research, Ugborikoko in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, Dr. Ama Ikuru, General Manager (GM), Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (Ncdmb) stated that the board is poised to see that it puts smile on the faces of Niger Deltans.

Speaking further, Dr. Ama Ikuru revealed that the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (Ncdmb) was legally established by an act to address human capacity building in the Niger Delta region since 2010.

He asserted that the NCDMB has been doing a lot in ensuring that they carry out their mandate in the region, stressing that Niger Deltans should continue to expect more from the board as it is ready to contribute meaningfully towards human capacity building in the region.

However, the GM had charged the participants to take full advantage of the programme, adding that such self development exercise will propel them to be self reliant if they carefully take the training to their advantage.

Dr. Ikuru while appreciating the Managing Director (MD) and the entire management of Joemarine Institute of Nautical Studies and Research for the hospitality and hosting of the programme had described the institution as one marked to achieve ground breaking records in the maritime industry.

Nevertheless, Ama had advised participants to be of good conducts while undergoing the training, noting that the training will last for ten (10) days.

In giving more detail about the programme, Ikuru said the training will last for ten (10) days as the Board has made arrangements for free accommodation and feeding, stressing that at the end of the training there is going to be financial encouragement for the participants.

He maintained that they should take the training more serious than any other thing during the programme, stressing that they should also conduct themselves peacefully within the said  period.

Earlier, Mr. Akpos Kenneth Epidei had in his welcome address admonished the 100 participants to take full advantage of the training, adding that they are lucky to be chosen out of the many Niger Deltans that are out there to be trained in such a sensitive area.

He further appreciated the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (Ncdmb) for partnering with Joemarine Institute of Nautical Studies and Research on the training of the ceremony.
