The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has officially announced Hon. Asupa Peter Forteta of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for Burutu North and his counterpart, Mr. Pullah Ekpotuayerin of the PDP for Burutu South as winners of the Saturday house of assembly elections in the Local Government Area, Delta State.
The announcement was made today at the INEC office in Burutu, headquarters of the Local Government Area by the constituency 1 & 2 returning officers of Burutu Local Government Area at about 5: 21Pm.
The Liberator can return that while Hon. Asupa Forteta was declared winner for the Burutu North Constituency, Delta State House of Assembly who crushed his closest political opponent from the All Progressives Congress, APC with 30,074 votes against APC that scored 1, 433.
On the other hand, Hon. Pullah Ekpotuayerin of the PDP had also been declared winner for the Burutu South, House of Assembly seat by defeating his APC rival with 14,038 against candidate of the All Progressives Congress, that pulled 6,873
Meanwhile, it would be recalled that Burutu, headquarters of the local government was agog by different groups of people across the local government that stormed Burutu to rejoice with the Asupa and Pullah for the sweeping victory of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Nevertheless, the entire leadership of the PDP in Burutu Local Government was in Burutu to rejoice with winners of the elections.
Some of the PDP leaders present during the declaration include Hon. Julius Pondi, member representing Burutu federal constituency, house of representatives, Abuja who had been returned again to govern the people for second term, Hon. Solomon Funkekeme, Hon. Ebike Oromoni, PDP chairman Burutu Local Government Area, Hon. Godknows Angele, chairman Burutu Local Government Council, Amb. Shedrack Agediga, SA to the governor of Delta State on peace and conflict resolution among many other leaders that were present.
According to a report obtained in confidence from the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa had also swept Burutu Local Government Council with wide margin of votes.
