Niger Delta Women under the aegis of KOKODIAGBENE MIEYEPENAMOEYORO-ABU FOUNDATION (KMF) in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State have condemned killing of innocent peaceful protesters at the Lekki toll gate during the #EndSars protest.

The women group made their position known via a press statement issued to newsmen in Warri after end of their monthly meeting presided over the chairlady of the group, Mss Brubor Mary Torkere, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers.

Mss Brubor in the statement on the 24th of October 2020 had condemned  the killing of harmless Nigerian Youths in a peaceful protest against police brutality and for a better Nigeria that was promised by Mr president before  coming  into office.

Mss Brubor said such killings must not be swept under the carpet by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the military under any guise.

In a their just concluded monthly meeting the chairlady of the women group KOKODIAGBENE MIEYEPENAMOEYORO-ABU FOUNDATION (KMF) Brubor Mary Torkere said she relate with how it feels with those who witnessed the shootout at the lekki toll gate and other places where the military or police displayed gross level of unprofessionalism, considering how it was with the Niger Delta region and particularly the Gbaramatu kingdom.

She said in one case, when the military came to lay siege in Gbaramatu Kingdom, in her words”many youths died, women and children ran into the bushes for safety, some women put to birth in the swamp in cold thinking about this dastardly act of the soldiers who are being paid from our taxes to protect our territory from being invaded by foreigners breaks my heart.”

They said we are in full support of the protest and they will not stop to call for a better Nigeria, adding that they are mothers and they must do whatever it takes to give their children a better future.

“We call on leadership at all level to live up to the task and stop forcing the people they are supposed to serve to accept things go the way they want. Noting that it is the constitutional right for a people whether in a local government area, state or the nation as a whole to decide who leads hence they should be respected for that.

“We call on the EU and leadership of international communities to investigate the massacre of harmless Nigerian Youths by the Nigerian Army at LEKKI TOLL GATE.

“We also want to plead with all criminal elements/ cult groups to please do not use this protest as opportunity to engage in violence because if we succeed to get what we want in our protest, no right thinking Nigeria would want to steal again.

“We sympathize with the  FAMILIES of the dead and the victims, (both the injured and they that have their shops looted by hoodlums) and prayed God replenish them and give eternal rest to our heroes/heroines departed.”
