A Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), the Good-Joe Foundation has distributed food items to the elderly in Burutu community and other fishing camps surrounding Burutu in the Local Government Area, Delta State.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Good-Joe Foundation, Mr. Goodluck Joel, an indigene of Yeye community in Iduwini Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State personally coordinated two speed boats to the creeks for the distribution of the food items.
The distribution was done yesterday and the elderly men and women were the NGOs primary target.
Mr. Goodluck Joel, a civilian security expert in Yeye community asserted that the foundation under his leadership noted that the level of hardship inflicted on Deltans, particularly the elderly and vulnerable people in the creeks, they felt that the foundation should contribute its quota in alleviating the sufferings of the people occasioned by the lockdown in the state geared towards curtailing spread of the virus.
Goodluck Joel noted that the group of people reached by the foundation were mostly people that even the state Government palliatives may not get to, adding that it was a painstaking journey as he visits Burutu community, particularly the Okorodudu axis and moved round all the surrounding villages down to Ekeremor.
The CEO noted that it gladdens his heart to be able to put smiles on the faces of the elderly men, women and vulnerable, adding that people are really suffering in the creeks.
Some of the food items shared to the people include Garri, Beans, Tubers of Yams, Palm Oil as well as cartons of indomie noodles that was packaged in fancy paper bags.
When interviewed on how long the Good-Joe Foundation has been in existence, Mr. Joel noted that it has been existing since 2017, silently touching lives across Burutu Local Government Area and beyond.
Speaking further, Goodluck assured the Ijaws, Deltans and Niger Deltans that as long as God keeps blessing him, he will continue to put smiles on the faces of the downtrodden in the society.
The Liberator Newspaper can report that prayers were reigned on the young CEO of the Good-Joe Foundation by the aged men and women that benefited from his kind gesture, adding that the Lord Almighty shall continue to increase him and his foundation financially and otherwise.
They particularly described the gesture as historic and a welcome development, stressing that history and posterity will always judge him right.
