A rapidly growing Ijaw music luminary, Chief Kingsley Takemebo, popularly known as the Mienkuro has called on the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to reason entertainers in the state.
Chief Kingsley particularly called on Governor Okowa to see what can be done to further relax the lockdown in such a way that musicians and other elements in the entertainment industry can go out for their businesses.
The Ijaw music expert revealed that while other sectors seem to be having a relief of sigh, the story for Ijaw musicians and others in the entertainment industry appears to be openly and silently bearing the brunt of the pandemic which had brought huge negative economic implication to the industry.
Mienkuro noted that the non opening of the entertainment industry has brought untold hardship to those in the sector as they have been locked up in their houses for months now without any form of care from the government and otherwise.
The one corner master made the call yesterday via a statement issued to newsmen in Warri, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper
Speaking further, Takemebo commended Governor Okowa in the fight against Covid-19 in the state but also stated that both palliatives and the relaxation orders have not reflected on the state entertainment industry.
He said some of them are dying in silence as they could no longer continue to remain mute when the long stay at home is biting them hard economically.
“We are now like monkeys inside cage, we are like prisoners now, the decisions of the Governor so far have not reflected on the entertainment industry and this is becoming worrisome by the day.
“It is unfortunate that we are having steadily rising cases of Covid-19 in the country, lockdown must not be the only tool to fight this dydra headed monster called coronavirus, as a government and as a people, we must look beyond lockdown to fight this menace.
“The whole thing have affected us gravely and a quick reopening of the industry will make things better for us”. Chief Kingsley Stated.
