Lockdown: Jubilation In Udu As Ernest Bebenimibo Foundation Dole Out Food Pacts To Over 100 Households In Ekete – The Liberator

For the people of Ekete community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State, it will always remain an historic and memorable day in the lives of the people, particularly while reminiscing on a time where coronavirus, a global epidemic has been ravaging countries in the World, humbling great nations to which Nigeria and Delta State is not an exception.

The people of Ekete including the aged will always remember the Ernest Bebenimibo Foundation, a non governmental organisation (NGO), founded by a young Ijaw son who hails from Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Area of the State for coming to their aid by doling out breakfast pacts to them earlier today.

While hinting The Liberator Newspaper shortly after the distribution exercise in Ekete, Chairman of the Ernest Bebenimibo Foundation noted that his NGO will continue to prioritize the welfare of the elderly men and women across the Nigeian state.

Speaking further, Mr. Bebenibo stated that the lockdown which is a good decision from both the state and federal government to curtail the spread of coronavirus in the country and state also comes with challenges of hunger and its attendant effects of staying at home.

Bebenimibo noted that not all Deltans are wealthy to provide for themselves during this hard time in the state, stressing that his foundation met as an organisation in order to see what can be done to ameliorate the sufferings of Deltans, particularly the aged ones in its little way.

Chairman of the Ernest Bebenimibo Foundation asserted that what they are sharing may not be enough but the gesture is to show that they feel the pains of the people and care for them no matter the situation.

The chairman noted that the people, the NGO has targeted for the distribution of items today include elderly men and women, less privileged, widows in Ekete as well as others, maintaining that over hundred (100) households where reached during the exercise.

He said the items distributed as breakfast pacts include sachets of milk, millow, indomie as well as breads.

Mr. Ernest, Niger Delta philanthropist says the aims and objectives of the NGO is to help the less privileged, to assist indigent students, support the elderly, widows, orphans, sponsoring out of school kids back to school, renovation of schools across Niger Delta and to work with like minded NGOs to alleviate the sufferings of the people.

It would be recalled that the foundation was flagged off on the 10th of March 2020 at Okerenkoko in Gbaramatu kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State with over 100 wrappers for the elderly, widows and less privileged, 200 customized school bags as well as 1000 notebooks for schools across the kingdom.

Meanwhile, the Niger Delta philanthropist had called on wealthy and well meaning Niger Deltans to assist the needy in this trying times like this.
