A Delta-born peace, environmental and human rights advocate, Chief (Comrade) Mulade Sheriff has been honoured with a LEGACY AWARD by Global Succor and Charity Mission for his contributions towards development through advocacy, and for promoting peaceful coexistence, sports, education, as well as human empowerment in the African continent. The Legacy Award was presented to him on the 17th of July, 2021, at the National Merit Award House, Abuja.

Speaking on the theme of the event SHINE FOR ORPHANS, Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Jimmy Ntuen expressed deep concern over continued increase in the number of out-of-school children in Nigeria to about 13.5 million, as put together by the UNICEF. He said the event was to draw Government’s attention to the plights of orphans and children that are out of school in Nigeria.

For his part, Secretary of NATIK- UNICEF Nigeria, Olagunju Idowu called on everyone to collaborate with Government towards saving lives and giving education to the young ones who are the future of our dear Nation, Nigeria.

Receiving the award, Chief Mulade Sheriff who is the National Coordinator and CEO of Center for Peace and Environmental Justice CEPEJ, thanked the organizers for finding him worthy of such a prestigious honour. He said he had assisted one hundred out-of-school children in Nigeria towards saving lives for a better society.

The aim of Global Succor and Charity Mission is to compliment the efforts of Government at reducing the number of out-of-school children by sponsoring at least 1000 children every year till 2030.

Highlight of the event was a documentary showing orphans and out-of-school children across Nigeria with a strong message “Every Child Deserves Quality Education in Nigeria.”
