A coalition of youths groups in Niger Delta region have stage a peaceful demonstration in Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA) area Warri Delta state have asked President Muhammedu Buhari to immediately sack Niger Delta minister, Godswill Akpabio for alleged massive looting in Niger Delta development commission ( NDDC) to save the region.

The groups said that Senator Akpabio has turned NDDC to his cocoa yam farm, thereby, had ruined the treasury of the commission with payment of phoney projects running to billions.

Youths leaders in Niger Delta drawn from Niger Delta Action/ Accountability Forum, National Coordinator, Mr. Moses Edjeba, Niger Delta Women Renaisanse, Mrs. Rebecca Oweizide, Ijaw Interest Advocate IIA, code named Izanzan camp, National Coordinator Amb. Yerinmene Salaco and Niger Delta Progress Movement, National Coordinator, Prince Emmanuel Mukoro in their various addresses have berated senator Godswill Akpabio for his greed and inordinate ambition to acquire wealth by looting the wealth of the Niger Delta region and abandoned the oil bearing suffering communities in abject poverty and penury.

The protesters displayed various placards with different inscriptions which reads, ” Akpabio is a thief, he has stolen the common wealth of Niger Delta people” ” Buhari sack Akpabio for bringing disgrace to your administration” ” Why Akpabio must go to jail for massive looting” and others with chanting of songs ” Akpabio must go”

Comrade Salaco, leader of Izanzan camp noted that ” The Akpabio forensic audit panel should first audit Akpabio massive looting in NDDC that amounting to over N40 billion. First, Akpabio starched away about N8 billion in 2019 in the name of fighting LASSA fever kits purchase. No single item was bought and he shared the billions of naira with his cohorts. O. 2020, when COVID-19 came, as usual he directed his syndicate in NDDC to approve another memo of N4.5 billion to purchase COVID-19 sanitizers and nose masks. No single packet of sanitizers or nose masks were bought and they shared the money. No, as you can see, there is no single nose masks or sanitizers shared to the Niger Delta region as the people are battling to buy food , nose mask and sanitizers for themselves while Akpabio had signed huge billions of naira under the guise of buying these materials for his selfish interest.

” Our simple demand to Mt. President is to help the Niger Delta oil bearing communities by immediately sacking Akpabio to sanitize NDDC from the control of a rogue who disguised as a saint, deceiving Nigerians with a forensic audit” he said.

Amb. Salaco Yerinmene commended the National House of Assembly, the Senate for constituting a probe panels both respected federal law houses to probe and bring to book the massive looting.of Akpabio in NDDC. Our situation room has gathered more criminal financial records of Akpabio and his cohorts in NDDC. That if the two probing law chambers need our assistance of tangible and concrete document proof that would help to nail Akpabio, we will voluntarily tender these documents from Izanzan situation room” he assured.

For Mrs Rebecca Oweizide and Moses Edjeba who threw their weight Izanzan camp position maintained that ” This is the beginning of this anti-corruption crusade against Akpabio massive looting in NDDC. We will move to NDDC headquarter in Port- Harcourt, if the needful is not done. We cannot celebrate a mam who stole billions of naira belonging to the common people of Niger Delta to walk the streets freely in red carpet with police escort while others who committed similar crime of public fund looting are suffering in prisons in the country. The right time has come for Akpabio to go and join his friends in prison” they stated.
