Ijaw Interest Advocate (IIA) Izanzan Intellectual Camp has called on President Muhammad Buhari to suspend the minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Godswill Akpabio over purported plan to retire some senior staffs of NDDC and send others on compulsory leave amidst allegation of corruption leveled against the Interim Management Communitee IMC.
They have also asked the president to protect the affected staff from the allege plot and allow the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to carry out thorough investigation into the activities of the Minister and the IMC with a view of bringing them to book.
The Izanzan Intellectual Camp group through a press release signed by its National Coordinator, Amb Arerebo Salaco Yerinmene Snr, a copy of which was obtained by The Liberator Newspaper on Thursday vowed not to relent in their quest to ensure that the massive fraud and high leveled financial misappropriation perpetrated by the IMC under Akpabio’s watch is not swept under the carpet.
Yerinmene wrote “The imperturbable red-hot IIA; Izanzan Intellectual Camp attention has once again been drawn to the purported retirement and leave of NDDC Senior Staffs amidst the allegations of massive looting of the common wealth of the Niger Delta People by Senator Godswill Akpabio and his cronies.”
“If the above information is true, we are not astound of the unconscionable and plethoric retirement of the Senior staffs and it is clue and attestation of the Akpabio, IMC guilty. Even as that, we are emphatically saying that the retirement of directors will never hide the horrendous deeds of Akpabio and his cohorts.
“As the arrow-head of the revelation of the massive looting by Minster Akapbio and the Interim Management committee (IMC), we are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to protect the jobs of the senior staffs penciled down for the undue retirement and leave by the fraudulent IMC, supervised by Niger Delta affairs minister Godswill Akpabio” He added.
He also said that “Senator Akpabio should be reminded that we are not sleeping even as he is taking different pseudo steps to substantiate himself having him have the pretensions to crumble the commission in mask of being man of transparency and honesty.”
The coordinator stated that Izanzan camp will not renege in their resolve to continue exposing evil under the present IMC, saying ” We will persistently expose more of his (Akpabio) fraudulent contracts in the coming days and it is in the best interest of all Niger Deltans to rise up against the mind boggling looting in the commission else the commission will disintegrate under the supervision of Senator Akpabio.”
He called on Mr President to without delay approve the suspension and probe of Akpabio whom they described as “the most fraudulent serving Honorable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs,” while the EFCC and and ICPC are allowed to do their job
