NDDC: Youth leaders congratulates Pondei, urges stakeholders to support the IMC – The Liberator

Niger Delta Youth Leaders have congratulated the acting Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Prof. Keme Pondei on the extension of tenure of the Interim Management Committee of the Commission by President Muhammad Buhari recently.

The congratulatory message was contained in a released signed by the trio of Dr. Doubra Collins Okotete, Secretary Ijaw Youth Council, Western Zone ( Delta, Edo & Ondo States), Comr. Moses Amatu, and Comr. Okilo Emiemene.
The group also commended the President for elongating the tenure of the committee and called on all well meaning Niger Deltans to support the members of the IMC in their quest to engender sustainable development in the region .
They described the decision of the President Muhammadu Buhari to extend the tenure of the committee by six months as wise, timely and commendable.
The group noted that the managerial and administrative qualities of the acting MD for the period he held sway at the NDDC are evidenced based while his leadership was truly felt by the Niger Delta Region
They described him as “ hardworking, reliable, upright, knowledgeable, Godfearing, a developer and a great leader with so much potentials and enthusiasm to better the Niger Delta region” saying “we are very sure that he will continue to employ his wealth of experience to bring about the desired sustainable peace and development to oil rich Niger Delta Region.
“This is the type of leaders the Niger Delta region has long been yearning for to help develop the region as enshrined in the objectives behind the formation of the NDDC.” They added.
The group while applauding the anti-corruption stand of the Ag. MD said “It’s pertinent we acknowledge the good work the Prof. Pondei led Interim Management Committee have done so far and thus applaud him for standing tall against corruption. we are not surprised for his track records as former Chairman of the Nigeria Medical Council (NMA) Bayelsa Branch and former Provost of College of Health Sciences,Niger Delta University are unbeatable till this moment.”
“We also humbly advice that stakeholders in the region be carried along and for the interior Niger Delta communities to feel the impact of the crude oil from their lands through grassroot-oriented developmental projects. “
In their appeal for support for the IMC, the group said “we sincerely appeal to all Niger Delta Stakeholders including our traditional rulers, the Revered Ijaw Youth Council, ex- agitators , and the political players irrespective of the political party affiliations to give an unwavering support to the IMC for a speedy and evidenced based development of the Niger Delta”
