Western Zone Chapter of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) has congratulated Chief (Engr) Kestin Pondi, Managing Director (MD) of Kalm Marine and Petroleum Services Limited (KMPSL) on the recent award of Petroleum Prospecting License (PPL) for Ogbanabou Field (PPL 213) by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

The Western Zone Chapter of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), comprising Delta, Edo and Ondo States issued the congratulatory message to newsmen in Warri yesterday via a statement personally signed and made available to newsmen by Dr. Comr. Doubra Collins Okotete, Chairman of the Zone, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.

Dr. Okotete noted that the demand for an Ijaw son or daughter to own and operate an oil bloc has been one of the greatest demands of the Ijaw Youth Council right from its foundation days in 1998.

However, Okotete asserted that the news of the award of the Ogbanabou Marginal Field License to Kalm Marine and Petroleum Services Limited by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) is no doubt one of the best news ever in the region, stressing that it is truly a news worthy of celebration in the region and beyond.

Chairman Okotete noted that while the Ijaws and Niger Deltans grapple with several unfriendly and repressive laws and varrying degrees of other oppressive tendencies in the Nigerian State, it must be noted that the news of the award of the Ogbanabou Marginal Field License to an indigene of the region to operate is surely something to commend the Federal Government of Nigeria for, adding that  all  individuals and institutions that made it possible needs to be applauded.

Dr. Okotete stated that even though Niger Deltans and the Ijaws are yet to get to their desired place in Nigeria politically and economically, the latest news regarding  the Ogbanabou Marginal Field is really a step in the right direction, stressing that the Ijaw struggle for resource control is gradually making sense.

Meanwhile, the Western Zone Chairman have declared that the youths are ready to render their support in whatever way they can if there is need for that, adding that they are very proud of the man behind Kalm Marine and Petroleum Services Limited.

He continued that Kalm Marine and Petroleum Services Limited is competent and the best company to handle the facility.
