A youth leader in Ogbe-Ijoh Warri Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, Comr Seth Douperegha has expressed shock and wondered on why His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, Governor of Delta State could continue to remain silent despite killings between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communities.

He particularly noted that posterity will not judge the Okowa led administration in Delta State well for the festering and lingering crises between the two enstranged  communities.

The rights activist made this known via a statement he signed and issued to newsmen in Warri yesterday, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide.

The statement reads below:

It is a travesty that up till this moment, the Delta State government is yet to show any firm commitment in restoring peace between the Ogbe-Ijoh people of Warri South-West Local Government Area and Aladja of Udu Local Government Area.

Barely a few days ago, in shock, I received the sad news of Pastor Sylvester Yerinbide; an indigene of Ogbe-Ijoh kingdom, who was gruesomely killed by assailants from Aladja and the government whose basic responsibility is to secure lives and properties in the state is profusely silent about it.

What I was expecting, perhaps every practitioner of a sane society was expecting is for the state government to swing into immediate action by fetching out the perpetrators and bringing them to justice but the reverse is the case.

Given the above reality, I want to call on His Excellency Sen. (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa and his Deputy; Barr Kingsley Otuaro to as a matter of urgency do the needful, as well as to put their Christian beliefs into display by restoring permanent peace between Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja communities.

We cannot disguise the fact that the Governor Okowa led administration has shown frail commitment or no commitment at all since the resurgence of this communal crisis in March 2016. The records are there and very frankly, posterity would judge this administration squarely for the innocent lives it has indirectly claimed.

Signed: Comr Seth Douperegha
