The leadership of Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative (IPDI) has said it will not rest until killers of slain youth Taylor Agofugha, who died during the recent clash between Ogbe-Ijoh and Alaja communities are brought to book. The Liberator Newspaper can report.

The National Secretary of the group, Emma Keneware made this known through a press statement also accused the State government of not doing much to give justice to the families of the deceased.

Keneware said that both the state governor, Sen Ifeanyi Okowa and the security agencies are trivializing a sensitive issue that is capable of snowballing into another communal conflict between the two communities.

The IPDI scribe opined that the governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and Security agents failure to unmasked the suspected neighbourhood killers of slain Taylor seven days after his death was suspicious and meant to glorify the supposed criminals.

He said that the silence of governor Okowa on Taylor murder does not serve the best interest of the public, as such could mean given consent to evil and open support against goodwill.

He stresses that the death of late Taylor would not be in vain, except the culprits are apprehended and brought to justice, it would not view the matter from criminal perspectives.

He declared that except the culprits are used as scapegoats, what he described as senseless killing of law-abiding people in Ogbe-Ijoh would continue.

He pointed that the people of Aladja community have violated peace agreement reached with the two communities, therefore the only way to calm fray nerves is to ensure the perpetrators of the crime are punished in line with the law.

Last week, the leadership of IPDI paid courtesy visit to the deceased, while speaking during the visit, president of the group Austin Ozobo had noted that Taylor was until his tragic death a member of IPDI, whose death brought grief to the group, and called on security agents and governor of the state Senator Ifeanyi Okowa to fish out the culprits as that is the only ground they will believe that the crime was perpetrated by criminals.

Meanwhile, the Senior Special Adviser to Delta State governor on Peace and security Comrade Daniel Ezekiel has assured the family that ”those who perpetrated the killing of Taylor Agofugha will be fish out as security agents have started doing their work”
