An Opinion leader in Diebiri Kingdom, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, Engr. Don Dickson Ogugu has again appealed to the Governor of Delta State  Dr. Ifeanyi  Okowa to support the Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh peace keeping  vanguard set up to ensure lasting peace between the two hitherto warring communities.

He also pleaded with the governor to as a matter of necessity come to the aid of the people of ancient Diebiri Kingdom whose ancestral homes  were raised down in 1995 at the wake of the Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh communal impasse with the aim of resettling the community back.

Ogugu made the appeal in an exclusive interview with The Liberator Newspapers in Warri Delta State on Thursday while celebrating Okowa on his birth anniversary.

The respected leader explained that the Aladja / Ogbe-Ijoh peace vanguard was a well thought out initiative established after the unfortunate 1995 crises that rocked  the two communities, with the mandate of fashioning lasting solution that will permanently engender  peace and foaster unity and harmonious co-existence between the two communities.

He maintained that support and encouragement  from the state government will go a long way in helping the peace vanguard achieve its aims and objectives.

While commending the effort of the governor toward peace building across the state urged him to use his “good office to see that the crises between Aladja and Ogbe-Ijoh  communities is brought to a permanent end.”

He noted that the effort of the governor is fast yielding results as “Aladja and  Ogbe ijoh commuties are moving together except for some little issues that are yet to be resolved.”

He also applauded the governor for fulfilling a promise made during a youth  town hall meeting at government house annex in Warri in October 2019 to complete the Isaba/Aladja community road.

“You are a governor that does not make empty promises, you have completed the
Isaba/Aladja road, today, we are moving from Aladja to Isaba road within five to six minutes to our community which have brought a huge development to better the Isaba and Aladja people” He said.

Ogugu also appealed to the governor to come to the aid of members of Diebiri  community and rebuild it to enable the people return fully to their ancestral homes.

He said that the Diebiri people are peace loving people, that is the reason they have remained calm and relied on the state government to do justice to them by helping them regain their homes, stressing that Governor Okowa should use the resettlement of Diebiri people back to their ancestral home as his birthday gift, adding that if others have failed to do so, Governor Okowa has all what it takes to make a difference by taking the Diebiri people back to their ancestral home, noting that by so doing, the people will forever remain grateful.

Describing the governor as “talk na do governor” he said he has no doubt that the governor will surely come to the aid of the people and also ensure that such an unfortunate incident will not  repeat itself again.

He congratulated the governor on his 62nd  birthday, wishing him, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and all Nigerians more blessings.

“I want to celebrate you with the whole of my heart, wishing you a happy birthday, as a father and leader, am also congratulating you and wishing you more birthdays celebration, more blessing to Delta State more blessing to PDP, more blessing to Nigeria.”
