Ogulagha Kingdom: Obotobo to experience ancient traditional festival in Delta on the 5th to 7th February 2020 – The Liberator

The people of Obotobo I community in Oil Rich Ogulagha Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State will on Wednesday 5th of February 2020 kick-start its Amanimi-Idumunimi Festival.

According to an information announcing the festival, signed by the duo of Mr. Joseph Monday, Chairman Planning Committee and Comr. Perezide Oruezonemi, secretary stated that the ancient festival will commence on Wednesday 5th of February 2020 to climax to its grand finale on the 7th of February 2020.

The Organizers have particularly invited sons and daughters of Ogulagha kingdom, Niger Delta, particularly descendants of Obotobo I community and members of the general public to grace the ancient annual festival.
When contacted by our reporter on the history behind the highly celebrated festival, Comr. Moses Agbobulagha, a critical stakeholder in the community and public relations officer, PRO of Ogulagha Kingdom Youth Council, OKYC, he noted that the festival sprang up in 1995, 25 years ago.
According to him, the main reason behind the festival is for sons and daughters of the Kingdom to come home, know their town and quarter and mingle with brothers and sisters throughout the festive period.
He noted that the festival is so unique and interesting that it afford indigenes the opporunity to know themselves better, stressing that the busy nature of the community and movement of people is truly a sight to behold.
However, it was learnt that His Excellency, Amb. Shedrack Agediga, Executive Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC will be live to grace the occasion as Chairman of the day.
Royal father of the day is His Royal Majesty, Elder (Capt) Joseph Timiyan, JP, Torubobou I, Agbonu, the paramount ruler of Ogulagha Kingdom, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State.
Others include, Double Chief Felix Ebah, Obotobo I community chairman as Chief host while Mrs. Patient Temewei will grace the festival as Chairlady.
Dramatic masquerades known as Agula, Kiriofieowu, Seigibiniebide, football matches, various traditional displays, dance procession as well as other interesting activities have been billed for the three days superlative festival.
It was further noted that Ijaw music Kingpin, Alfred Jking will also perform live on stage on the grand finale of the festival at Obotobo I community in Ogulagha kingdom on the 7th of February 2020.
The duo of Monday and Perezide had assured members of the general public that arrangements are on top gear to host as many as possible dignitaries that will be attending the powerful festival, stressing that the various sub committees are working day and night to ensure a hitch free festival.
