A youth leader in Okomu Kingdom, Ovia South Local Government Area of Edo State, Comr. Austin Lemon Uduwei has condemned attack on the Okomu Oil facilities resulting to the death of an excavator operator by alleged unknown gunmen.

This was contained in a statement Comr. Lemon Austin Uduwei personally signed, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide yesterday.

While condemning the attack, the Okomu youth leader had particularly cautioned the Military, Police and the Okomu Oil Palm Company not to extend their anger to the innocent indigenes of Okomu Kingdom.

Comr. Uduwei asserted that Okomu as a Kingdom is willing to work with securities agencies if called upon to fish the perpetrators of the act, stressing that the Ijaws are peace loving people.

The statement reads below:

COMRADE LEMON CONDEMNED ATTACK ON OKOMU OIL FACILITIES.

Ijaw youth council Okomu Clan leader Comrade Lemon Austin Uduwei condemned the attack perpetrated by unknown gun men on Okomu oil Palm Company facilities and condoles with the family of a excavator operator who lost his life in the attack.

I condemn the attack on the Okomu rubber plantation and the burning down of excavators in the plantation. Ijaws are peace loving people and i believe the perpetrators of this evil act will be brought to book as it also affect our normal business in the waterway because of the presence of heavily armed gun boats in the creek of Okomu and the company also closed down all roads leading to Okomu kingdom because of this dastard act.

The indigenes are ready to work with security agencies to fish out the hoodlums but i am totally against the claims of the managing director of the Okomu oil Palm company Dr. Graham Hefer that the attack is politically motivated and suggest that the attack was carried out by terrorists from the waterways.

Okomu rubber plantation is located in upland and how could the director suggest that they passed through the waterway in a broad daylight? The company has many roads linking to different communities in the area, also the managing director’s statement that the attack on the company is to”create fear in his people who are peaceful and loyal subjects to the state government and the Bini Kingdom”is sentimental.

The Ijaws in the area are also peace loving people and we have not experienced movement of terrorists in our vicinities.

The attack was carried out by unknown gun men, i am also using this medium to advise the security agencies especially the Nigerian army and the Nigerian Police to be diplomatic in their investigation and i plead with the security agencies not to

harass  the innocent indegenes who are on their various businesses.

There are some mount watering questions that need to get answers from the public relations officer of the company,(1)what were the burnt down excavators doing in the scene of the incident(2)why blocking and digging roads that lead to some communities in the plantation? we have heard a lot of cries in the media that the Okomu oil palm company is blocking roads that were constructed by individual efforts to their various communities. The Ijaw communities in the area should not be targeted most in the attack.
