Okotete Celebrates Igetei’s Victory, Describe Parliament As Bastion Of Hope

Chairman of Western Zone IYC, Dr. Comr. Doubra Collins Okotete on Monday Celebrated the victory of Rt. Hon. Bob Collins Igetei as Speaker of the 5th Mobile Parliament of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide.

Dr. Okotete issued the congratulatory message to newsmen in Warri yesterday via a statement signed and circulated to newsmen by Comrade Lugard Izoukumor, Information Officer IYC Western Zone, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide. 

Chairman Okotete asserted that parliament under any fora is the bastion of hope for the common man, stressing that he is optimistic that Igetei will handle the parliament to a greater height.

5th Mobile Parliament Inaugural Ceremony: Dr Okotete Congratulates Speaker Igetei  

 ..Calls on Speaker Igetei to be magnanimous in victory to unlock and renew parliament as the bastion of hope, says no victor no vanquished….

Chairman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone has congratulated Speaker of the 5th Mobile Parliament, Rt. Hon. Comrade Bob Collins Igete, urging him to be magnanimous in victory in discharging his parliamentary functions. 

The Chairman, who was also a former parliamentarian, said parliament either in secular politics, or in this case as a socio-cultural platform agitating for the socioeconomic and sociopolitical advancement of our people represent the bastion of hope and the voice of the people. Hence, he urges Speaker Igetei to unlock and renew parliament by working with principal officers and others who contested with him, as the bastion of hope, revealing that there is no victor no vanquished. 

He extolled the exemplary conduct of all parliamentarians during the inaugural ceremony, noting that their exemplary conduct to peace and decency would be long remembered, revealing his optimism that Speaker Igetei will use his wealth of experience and parliamentary knowledge to bequeath and remedy the myriads of challenges before Ijaw people.   

Furthermore, Dr Okotete lauded Comrade (Dcn) Peter Igbifa and the entire 8th National Executive Council, for ensuring the inaugural ceremony of the 5th Mobile Parliament was peaceful. He admonished co-contestants to see the victory as a win win situation, stressing that Speaker Igetei should always remember that he is a speaker for all. Thus, he should ensure Council is given the required boost in reshaping Council’s activities for good.
