Okowa vows To Monitor Implementation Of GMOUs And CSR Of Oil Firms Operating In Delta State

The Executive Governor of Delta state, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa has revealed that his administration will monitor the implementation of Global Memorandum Of Understanding (GMOU) of oil companies operating in the state with their Host communities.

The Governor stated this on Wednesday at the Palace of His Royal Majesty, Capt. Joseph I. Timiyan, The Ebenanawei of Ogulagha kingdom as he flagged off the Warri Medical & Welfare Outreach organized by Britannia-U through the Lilyford Foundation for their host communities.

Represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Oil & Gas, Prince Emman Amgbaduba, Okowa enjoined Host communities to be peaceful and law abiding as he promised to ensure companies carryout their corporate social Responsibilities. The Ministry of Oil and Gas was recently restructured into six departments, which includes a compliance monitoring department he stated.

Earlier, HRM Capt. Joseph I. Timiyan thanked the Delta state Government for the construction of roads and other developmental efforts in Ogulagha kingdom.

In her speech, the MD/CEO of Brittannia-U Ltd, Mrs Uju C. Ifejika thanked the state Government for creating the enabling environment for investors in the Oil and Gas sector. She thanked the people of Ogulagha kingdom who have continued to support the company in its operations. She promised to build a health facility in Ogulagha kingdom.

The programme is aimed at providing free medical care and other welfare packages for women.
