Opuama Day: Adanse hails community leadership for organizing event, calls for more unity

A concern citizen of Opuama community in Egbema Kingdom in Warri North Local government Area of Delta State, Mr. Adanse Timi Freedom has hailed his people for organizing the 2019 edition of the Opuama day.

Timi made the commendation recently via a press statement issued to newsmen in Nigeria from London, a copy of which was sent to The Liberator Newspaper.

He noted that youths must rise up and be focussed to accept the challenge of leadership, adding that as the good people of Opuama celebrates, they should not forget the challenges bedeviling it.

The vocal voice of Opuama, Mr. Timi particularly make case for elders of the community, youths as well as the women, stating that, the community leadership must ensure that it in its little way affect the lives of these group of people positively.

Expressing happiness towards the just concluded two days event, Freedom noted that the annual Opuama day which has for long become an annual event is so uniquely planned that it afford members of the community to know themselves as sons and daughters of the community uses the opportunity to come home.

The statement read in part: “As youth from the community, I want to appreciate the community leadership for organising the event because it will avail us the opportunity of meeting and seeing our brothers and sisters whom we may have not seen for years. It brings sons and daughters of the community from far and near to celebrate ourselves as a people.

“Even as we celebrate, we should not forget our challenges as a people, the leadership of the community should encourage/orient parents to train their children, as education is a key to a better community.

“Youths should be encouraged to acquire skills and be empowered so they can contribute to the development of the community.

“Our elderly men and women should be empowered as age won’t permit them to work anymore.

“Finally, I advise all youths to be focused, remain united, and assists the leadership of the community in bringing development and make community proud. They are hard working and should continue to make use of opportunities and have the development of the community at heart.

“I celebrate with them and wish everyone a blessed Christmas and new year in advance.” Timi Freedom stated.

Meanwhile, Adanse assured the people of Opuama, Egbema and Niger Deltans that as he search for greener pastures in diaspora, he will not relent in advocating and doing what is good and right for the people.
