Otuaro Meet With IYC Western Zone, Vows To Support Council Activities

His Excellency, the Deputy Governor of Delta State, Barr (Dcn) Kingsley Burutu Otuaro on Thursday hosted the leadership of Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone and other critical stakeholders of council at his Okerenkoko mansion where series of issues bedeviling the Ijaw ethnic nationalities in the Zone was severely dealt with. The Liberator Newspapers Worldwide can report.

While addressing the Western Zone Ijaw Youths drawn from Clans, former leaders of the Zone, kingdom youth leadership as well as other critical stakeholders led by Dr. Comr. Doubra Collins Okotete, Chairman Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone had congratulated the Dr. Okotete led Western Zone exco on their victory during the elections, stressing that power belongs to God.

However, the Deputy Governor of Delta State appreciated the Western Zone IYC leadership for identifying with him, stressing that the in-house meeting would have  happened before now but noted that it didn’t happen due to his busy schedules, he asserted that it has always been his wish to meet with the Western Zone IYC, describing the group as the most formidable mouth piece of the Ijaws in Western Zone. 

Speaking further, Barr. Otuaro had while responding to some of the demands raised by the Zonal Chairman, Dr. Doubra Collins Okotete and other stakeholders of the Zone such as Comr. Freedom Atigbi and Comr. Oweikeye Endoro had stated that he is not new to activities of council. 

The Deputy Governor while recalling some of his significant contributions towards the emancipation of the Ijaws in the Nigerian state maintained that his project in the University was even propelled by his passion he has for the liberation of the Ijaw people. 

Otuaro had however vowed to support council activities in whatever way that he can be of assistance, stressing that a body of such truly needs the supports of Ijaw leaders to strive better. 

Nevertheless, earlier in his speech, Dr. Comr. Doubra Collins Okotete appreciated the Deputy Governor for the warm reception and the audience granted to the Ijaw Youths under his command in the Zone, stressing that they are proud of him. 

Okotete said it is important for the political leadership in Ijaw, particularly in Western Zone to fill the gap between leaders and the Youths by properly carrying the Youths along, adding that the Zone is lagging behind when compared to other zones.

The Western Zone IYC boss speaking further had used the opportunity to highlight some of the daunting challenges bedeviling the council, promising that council will always advocate for an Ijaw man to be Governor of Delta State come 2023.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor inline with the Ijaw tradition entertained the Youths as well as organizing bufet for all members of the delegation.

While departing Okerenkoko Federated Community in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, Dr. Okotete briefly stopped over to inspect the state of things at the permanent site of the Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko.
